Hey guys....I'm thinking about getting back in to flying. I'd like to avoid everyone telling me all the reasons not to and just stick to the question. Where are new hires for Compass going? How long to get to MSP? Any talk of direct-hire captains (yes, I'm aware of being on reserve forever because of everyone upgrading that is senior to me). I have 4.5 years of prior 121 regional experience so I know about life at the regionals. I've read some posts saying the quick upgrade at Compass is over....is that true? If so, why? It would seem that with the additional AA flying and attrition to the majors the upgrade wouldn't slowdown much. Thanks!

Everyone in my new hire class (which started in the first part of August) was awarded LAX. We are still in training and already 2 or 3 of us have gotten MSP.
I wouldn't count on street captains. I've been planning on about a 1.5 year upgrade. With that said, though, I've had more than one person in the training department tell me that I will be back for upgrade real soon. I'm not holding my breath, though.

My advice is get current, get a few more hours and start applying at LCC's/Majors as soon as possible.

Yes, I realize there is a Compass Update thread. I also realize that there are over 800 pages to it. Thought it might be quicker to ask a few simple questions.....didn't think it was a big deal.

It gets old seeing the same questions over and over when the information would take 2 minutes to find. That being said, if quick upgrade is your thing why didn't you apply right when they announced the AA flying?

I'm not ready to apply anywhere yet....just gathering info. What are typical schedules like? 3 day, 4 day, etc. Does Compass use PBS or hard lines? How is the MSP-LAX commute?
