Right out of the FOM. It's not hard people! The main point of the FOSA was that people aren't actually following the checklist and this is just another symptom of that. It doesn't say you can never use flaps 4. It says they don't recommend it and they will ban the practice of using flaps 4 to silence the gear warning in a revision. Ask the number of people who have landed gear up in a light twin because they got in a bad habit of silencing the gear horn what they think of that practice.
For me, I'm going to keep doing 1, 2, 3, 4, Full until socal approach controllers stop trying to drop me in to SNA so late. (Or until there's actually an AOM revision that explains how they want you to do a flaps full landing).

Just a heads up,those that have the AA Travel Planner and have Global Entry/PreCheck double check to make sure your known traveler number is still in your profile. Looks like mine disappeared after re-enrollment

Example problem eliminating Flaps 4:
Just landed with stall protection ice speed and at Flaps 3 the green dot was at 157. In the limitations section it says under these conditions the slowest I can fly is 167. Max speed for Flaps Full is 165. If I needed Flaps Full I would technically need to divert.

I was going to say a bunch of things but mainly it results in face palm.
Don’t be stupid people.
Intercept in pink needles is smart, but if you prefer green that’s fine too. Just arm the right mode before the FAF.
JetDoc, I bet you NAV it in on the Hollywood arrival and keep it in nav/Vnav outside the FAF on the LOC. Then arm up APP. What’s the difference for the intercept?
Also those of you who have an issue with someone not speaking up in the debrief because they aren’t strong enough to speak up, then you should speak up and call them out. Practice what ya preach.
Fly safe!!! Good job! Be on time everyone!

I'm sorry. Yall Realize the only difference between 4,5 is the number on the handle and the level of protection it offers you in regards to landing without the gear down and terrain warnings?

That's what we're going to have to do, but that's in fact worse than going Flaps 4. If you forget that you're transitioning to Flaps Full then you won't get a flaps warning since it is a normal landing setting. Plus you probably won't catch it in the landing check since it's so natural to just say, "Flaps 5 Set". Then you'll end up either skidding off the end of the runway, or approaching at too slow a speed for the flaps setting. Or you'll notice it below 1000' and have to go around. The only save would be that you see your approach green dot is well above the Vap speed.
Plus I remember in training that using Flaps 5 in transition was frowned upon for these very reasons. They always told us to transition with Flaps 4.
