No ****. My point is, why doesn't MW give a plan to reduce overworked pilots schedules before going straight to voluntary leaves. While a leave would be nice, I'm sure most of us can't afford to take a month or 2 without pay, at least I certainty can't. Would I would like however, is the opportunity to get a min credit and decent day off line for a change. And like another guy said, how about some green days for a change?? Why jump straight into offering leaves. Give EVERYONE a chance at relief before offering a select few who can afford to take a personal vacation without pay.

Before offering personal leaves, why don't we start by allowing every line holder to bid for a 75 hr line? The bottom third percentage of line holders always seem to get stuck with the crap 12-14 day off 90+ hr lines. Yes I know this is how PBS works... but if we are overstaffed, can't we adjust PBS awards so that pilots that can hold a line at all seniority levels can bid for a max day off 75 hr line???
The union is going to have a problem with it though, because the super senior guys who've invested the past 5 years of their career here will have a problem the second their QOL goes down so that the junior group can work less.
I think the leave of absence is also because we are entering the low season again, and we are already super fat as it is, with the 6 planes still on property. We hired like crazy for a while and I truly think it was because something was in the works, and then it fell through. The FAs got their option to voluntary leaves too way before the planes were announced because their reserve grid went up to the 100s in LA.
Really bad planning IMHO.

Jumpseat priority
Hey quick question about jumpseat priority on a go-jet flight. Was trying to jumpseat out of MSP the other day and there were two of us waiting on the jumpseat and we asked the captain to come up to answer a priority question for us because it was me and a delta pilot waiting for it. The captain said I should get the seat because we are owned by the same company but the gate agent said the computer said the Delta pilot had the higher priority over me. The flight was late going out and the gate agent just went with the computer instead of the captain's word. Looked up jumpseat info on the alpa app about go-jet and it was not clear on compass and trans state employees. Anyone have any extra info on this. Ended up having to crash at the airport for the night because of it. The app does say the computer is not always right but the gate agent was not hearing it.

So, did anyone read the latest memo from MW? Hiring and upgrade freeze indefinitely after the last Dec 22nd new hire class and apparently only one of the upgrade classes awarded in January will be honored?
No furloughs but offering personal leaves from Jan 2017-May 2017 to those that want some "time off"?

In my opinion if I was in your shoes I'd wait a little and see how attrition goes and how this all plays out. We can speculate all day but truth is none of us really know what's going on in management (if someone knows the truth and have solid facts from the inside now is your time to leak the info lol ). I do believe they are trying to get flying but I don't think they're close to getting anything yet and I'm not very optimistic just yet but I do hope they pull off something.
If you bail that'll be another 3-4 months of training and maybe it'll take you 1-2 months or longer to even get a class date based on where you're trying to go. Things are really not that bad just yet. You could leave tomorrow and compass gets just 10 planes and that'll change the whole picture. It's a very unpredictable industry but I don't think being 60ish pilots overstaffed is the end of the world. Assuming we lose 20ish a month that'll take 3 months or so to be back on track. I know for a fact a good amount people are leaving in January and I know few others that are in pools waiting for dates but time will tell. But best of luck in whatever you decide

Yeah makes no sense to bail just yet. See how things go. Honestly, it's just a minor hiccup. I think we will see some good news by spring/summer. This industry is so unpredictable. The music has slowed slightly, but it isn't even close to stopping.
On another note, we better see green days in all bases. Though I think it's slightly annoying that to turn a day green in MSP requires 20 RSVs...
