Reserve time right now is not a good estimation of what it will be, due to the massive attrition and huge attempt at a hiring wave to replace for the attrition. Somebody hired right now might do no reserve or up to maybe 6 months if you're on the back end of the hiring wave, it also depends on the base I'd say.
PHX is only going to be about 30 crews. As for a new hiring getting it, you might get it out of training or it could go senior and take some time. It's really anybody's guess, I think we probably have 30 ca/fo that commute to LA from PHX I would imagine, worst case scenario you could expect some time commuting to LA and would get PHX eventually, even if it goes "Senior" keep in mind "senior" at Compass is very relative with our high attrition, you can get senior pretty quick. That said PHX will probably be the cheapest base, those do tend to go a bit more senior because SEA/LAX are expensive to live in. Commuter policy requires you to have 2 flight options that will get you in time. In reality not really an issue unless you're continually missing commutes, but as long as you're commuting responsibly they'll work with you. Realistic upgrade to captain in any base, it's at ~24 months right now but that's because of the 6 month pause we took. But it's anybody's guess what it'll do. Again, front of the wave might hit it in 18 months (prob in LAX base), someone hired later on might take longer.
As for wanting to work 85-90 hrs a month instead of 75, this should be no problem for you, people are always wanting to drop/trade trips and then there is a pool of opentime as well. If you're in PHX you conceivably would have both PHX opentime and then LAX opentime w/in 5 days to pick from. If you pick up at the end of the SCP for 48 hrs it pays at 125% and they send out critical pay trips at 150% from time to time, so a small increase in workload can greatly increase your credit from time to time.

Can someone please tell me when these contracts are supposed to expire and what is the general feeling around there? I am trying to make a decision between QX and Compass. I know you guys don't have a crystal ball, just curious what you all think?

It comes down to where you live. Our contracts go into 2020 and beyond. However given the tract record of other previous regionals, we won't be going anywhere anytime soon and our contracts will get re up'd. We have great performance numbers on the AA side and
Good numbers on the DL side. We are cheap to operate due to a young pilot group and we are also smaller than most.
If you live in sea or so cal then come to cpz. If you live in Alaska go to QX

Our seniority list will turn over nearly 3 times at our current attrition rate before our contracts will need to be renegotiated. If you want to live on the west coast, get your time, and gtfo Compass is a good place to do it.

Sounds like you have had a life long dream of flying for Horizon.. I share your same desire.. (but back in 1997) kind of glad it never worked out.. but still wish i had keep trying.. the Compass guys are right. You will glide up the list there. At QX. You will hitt a wall and not move up more do to there “lifers” ...QX is a wait and see mode right now. I would go to Compass..

Thanks for the replies guys, and amcnd you are right, it has been a life long dream. I was shot down in 2000 after I bombed the Frasca ride. I'm 46, so the time for me to make it to a major is slipping away. I should stop thinking with my heart and start
Thinkinking with my head.....probably the most responsible thing for me to do for my wife and I.

It is really exciting to see the large influx of new hires and applicants posting in this forum since the company has announced the new bonus and pay bump. Definitely has made a difference

Also, you get to enjoy the $17,500 bonus before the grievance catches up with the company and they are legally obligated to pull it.
