Yup. Furloughs would have been the death of this place. Who would come to an airline that furloughed in the middle of the biggest hiring boom in decades?

Glad they decided against that, but I hope they add incentives ($$$) before they regret not doing it sooner. Getting pilots in this market is the name of the game.

Whoever made the decision to stop hiring and even mention the F word should be showed the door. It has really messed up the upgrade and new hire plan. It's above my pay grade to make those decisions...we're just dumb pilots (I speak for myself only)_ who called it months ago.

You weren't the only one who called it... But there were folks on here that defended how it was done at the time.

Moving forward though I hope management can learn from the experience. Sometimes the penny picked up now is not worth the dollar that's missed by bending over.

Yes we would be fat for a little while, but at the end of the day, they wouldn't need to be scrambling to hire new guys and back up the training department. They could have reduced hiring to only the most qualified candidates. This would have spaced out training nicely and we wouldn't have been known as the only regional in the industry not hiring. I think management even used the dreaded F word. What regional in 2016/17 would even be thinking of furlough? And they said it like they did us a favor. "Well at least we didn't furlough" Yes because if they did, Compass would be done by 2018. Anyways I think our dark ages have passed and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens here in the next few months! I agree Compass needs to get better at updating their hiring info if they want to help attract new guys.
Wouldn't they be better off upgrading and keeping the CA side well staffed and the FO side short rather than the other way around? In either case they are going to end up putting out critical pay or junior assignments to cover the flying and it would be a lot cheaper to pay out 150% at FO rates than CA rates. Am I missing something or just looking at it all wrong?

No, you have it right but this is TSH you are talking about. They would step over a dollar to pick up a penny. LIDO, IOCC, Rainmaker etc. all set in place to save money and we all know how it's working out.

It's funny that they don't update the website yet I am sure someone in the office went on the airline profile page here and changed some info. It use to mention MSP base closing in December and now it no longer says that on the QuickTake section of Compass's profile page.

You are exactly right. Makes a lot more sense but as someone previously mentioned, this is TSH. I would love to see 16-20 upgrades a month. Movement would be even more crazy. Still, with the attrition the way it is, I imagine once the MSP movement is done, probably going to see 5% movement in base every month. Things are going to really get interesting come December.

I'm guessing they've calculated it's less expensive to not pay a few extra Captain salaries at the expense of an occasional critical trip. Nothing will change until we start cancelling fights.

Let's not let that happen. On the bright side, at Oshkosh CPZ has by far the biggest and most impressive booth of any regional. Had mock ups, carpet, swag, etc. Seemed to be making a good impression. OO had a picnic table with a cloth on it and a hang up sign for comparison. Of course EDV was there claiming they were pretty much already on the DAL seniority list

Swag....almost as good as a shiny jet. SJS swaggggg

But in all seriousness if a pizza cutter or free shades influences your choice of regional, I'm not sure your ADM is all there.
