It sounds good on paper from an employee standpoint because your almost making double the money if you pick up flying on those days they bought back from you. But as someone said, it's a shady way for the company to get flying covered

Spread the word and make sure crews you fly with don't fall for the trap

Well everything has a price tag, at least give them a chance to see what the offer is.

I think it would just be your hourly rate multiplied by 3:15 a day.. right?

Definitely not worth it by just its face value, but if they offer 200% that might not be a bad deal. If not then why don't just keep my vacations and pick up critical.

Kinda. But the idea of getting you to take cash instead of days off is so they don't have to offer more critical pay.

As I said before, vacation buy-back is (generally) a short term solution to reduce required staffing. It could become long term, but that would be very bad for morale and recruitment.

The problem on the pilot side is if people accept the buy-back, it means the company does not need to upgrade as many.

About the only kind of person I'd tell to accept it is someone leaving the company. That way they get the cash and the company still needs to upgrade more people.
