Question for the commuters/contract wizards out there.
Say you have a trip that starts in a DH. If you cancel that DH and elect to commute to the destination of the DH to begin your trip, would you be covered by the commuter clause if you don't make it in? I'm assuming you have met all the conditions of the commuter clause, the only difference being you're commuting to an outstation, as opposed to base.
Also to the new guy asking about reserve time, it's way too soon to tell. The very first guys to complete training after the hiring freeze are just now starting to show up. Reserve time will greatly shrink starting in a few months. But for the last 9 months, and for the next 2 months, reserve time is extremely long.
That said, anyone who's interviewing around now will hit the line just as Seattle is about to grow as company-wide reserve time shrinks back to like <4 months.
That's my guess (hope) at least.
Look at it this way: reserve time is extremely long right now, yes. If you got hired in December 2016, your life here sucks.
But the company currently wants to hire more pilots in the month of November alone, than they hired in December+January+February+March+April+may+June. The only reason reserve time is horribly long right now is because of the hiring stop. Now that that's over, we'll be back to incredible movement. Provided we fill classes...
We're not. 3 people in systems review last week and no indoc class at all.

Our next two classes are nearly full. We have tons of interviews scheduled and have had nearly 30 applications since Friday. Indoc classes now started a month ago, before the bonus announcement.
