Hey thanks, I just needed to get on a laptop and then I saw that. You can see how much you have by looking at the PDF on the "Pilot 2018 Annual Vacation Accrual Review and Projected Allocation" email sent on 9/1.

As far as the bid... I think/hope I have this figured out.... so each request # functions like a layer would in PBS. And within each request number you click "new" to build your bid for that request. What throws me off is what is meant by "choice" 1.. 2.. within each request block. I kinda just ignored the confusion and assume its just how you build each bid.

So if say 4th of July is your vacation bid and you had 2 weeks to bid, you might have:

(bid/layer 1) Request 1
Choice 1.... late June*** to early July***
Choice 2..... early July*** to mid July***

(bid/layer 2) Request 2
Choice 1.... early July*** to mid July***
Choice 2...... mid July*** to late July***

I hope that makes sense, that's how I am interpreting the "request vs. choice" language.

To piggyback on this, are our vacation weeks Monday to Sunday or Sunday to Saturday?? I understood them to be Monday to Sunday, but using this glitchy system it gives you Sunday-Saturday. This is way more confusing than it needs to be. WTF Compass?!

Now see, I interpreted it differently. I see it as, my first *request* for a week off is July 1st to July 8th. if I can't have that my second *choice* is July 8th to July 15th.

My second *request* for a week off is August 1st to August 8th, and my second *choice* if I can't get that in this *request* is August 9th to August 16th, etc etc.

So nice of someone at the company to explain how this all works....

Haha you're exactly right. Its like its one or the other, too bad it could really jack up your bid if you get the interpretation wrong! I have a very important 10 year wedding anniversary to bid for and hope I get this right!

My wife is having a medical procedure next year and I'm trying to get two weeks off in a row so we can schedule it. No idea how to try to make that happen with the new system. :/

Default Rumors

Sorry to stir the pot but just did a turn and the captain was a recruiter, I mentioned the rumor and he said it's really a thing. He wasn't clear but says it's not exactly a clean-cut flow and it might involve mokulele somehow. Says all done just needs a signature from HA

Also: when does the bidding window close for vacation? All we got was an emailed seniority list and no other guidance or notification..

You know as stupid as it sounds the HAL rumor has some legs. I'm still doubtful it will come to pass but it's not as flippant a rumor as I once thought it was.
