It's just the flu!

I also want to go on record that this debate about data and surges and returning to normalcy is ridiculous.
We're talking about people's lives here. And those that want to downplay it and say that everything is cool now that we're only losing 500 a day is losing sight of what matters.
Every number is someone's family member. A father. A son. A mother. A daughter. Every number had a story, with highs and lows. And it was a story that was cut short because of this nation's inability to come together and work the problem as a team.
We should all be ashamed.

And every kid we keep out of school, or that we don’t get vaccinated on time because we have nonemergency services locked down, every cancer that doesn’t get diagnosed as soon as it MIGHT have been diagnosed, all those things have a very real human cost too. The millions overseas at risk of dying from famine as the world economy collapses are real people too.
For an illness that has a survival rate in excess of 99.6% and - at the 42% level - has hit people in long term care facilities where the death rate BEFORE COVID was 35% per year.
You don’t have a monopoly on the moral high ground here, WutFace, no matter what you think. Others can honestly hold differing opinions while being neither morally bankrupt nor inhuman monsters.

Reading all of these threads make my head hurt. You all are trying to talk over each other to win an argument and are not seeing that most of you would probably agree on the basics. I bet all of you wear a mask when you go out. None of you are going to clubs and bars. You are all trying to protect yourself and others you love the best that you can. Will others do the same? Most of society should be, but I don’t know as my state requires mask wearing and everybody does. Everybody cherry picks statistics to fit their narrative. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Arguing extremes when most people favor a middle ground is pointless. You can’t shut down an economy, but everybody should take precautions to mitigate the spread of the virus. Most people that get it will not die. Some people will die. Life sucks, buy a helmet.
