"A group of dogs that was set to be sent to a rescue were instead shot and killed by local officials, according to local reports. This was apparently done in order to prevent shelter volunteers from traveling and potentially spreading infections."

I believe at this point it is entirely reasonable to make direct comparisons with Nazi Germany when it comes to the control some countries are imposing on their citizenry.

Not until they start loading them in cattle cars.

Oz and NZ's behavior is very authoritarian, but it's not deliberate, premeditated, institutionalized, industrial mass murder. Even Lothario Cuomo wasn't actually trying to *kill* his old folks. I think.
