What's the harm is waiting if/when you hit the 100 hour mark?
There's probably no harm but what if your illness or injury doesn't warrant seeing a doctor?

I'll answer my own question.

Too bad. Spend the money and waste resources on an already over burdened excessively expensive healthcare system.

Yeah, the universal system of laws, rules, and regulations never cause hassles for those who aren't responsible for their enactment.

Every time I go through security at an airport I'm paying the price for those who hijacked airplanes. I have to show my driver's license to buy Sudafed even though I don't typically cook a lot of meth.

You want "fair"? Call SpaceX and sign up for the Mars colony. Maybe it will be different than Earth.

I was thinking about this also - I plan to get a letter - like you did , if I have to see a medical professional . Then after I reach a 100 hrs - if I do , I will submit the letter for the sick event . It might not be the sick call that put me over the 100 but its in there somewhere.
so - get the letter and save it , if you're called , use it.

Of course! Verifications only count if submitting them is inconvenient, and pilots will no longer be paid for a trip if they enjoyed it.

Interesting idea, Gander. I wonder if they can ask to verify illness from a specific rotation? ie not the one you'd previously gotten a note for.

Ok, your right, we shouldn't keep track and try to correct things. Once enacted we should just live with it.
Kinda like Obama-care here on earth.

Harm?
So...If that's the case whats the point of the verification? Does someone go to the doc and say "Last Tuesday I had a raging bout of allergies, but I'm fine now. I'm just paying you $100 to sign this note."

One of two things would happen.

1. The doc would say no way I'm putting my name behind something that I cannot verify was true and probably politely suggest you don't waste their time like this again. Well that sucks.

or

2. They sign the note to get you out of their hair and probably politely suggest you don't waste their time like this again. Great! Gettin Paid! But then whats the point of verification at all?

This new system will do nothing to curb sick use among anyone. The honest people will continue to call in sick when they are sick and the "abusers" will continue to work the system to their advantage under the new rules.

Here's a thought. If you are not safe to fly, don't fly. If management says anything, call your union rep AND the FAA. Safety trumps the contract or your paycheck.

If you do, please come back here and tell us how quickly the company invokes 14.G.
