Take the total number for that category and subtract out those that have listed it first, second or third and you will get an idea of how many have placed it #4 or lower (those pilots are statistically less likely to be awarded that category but obviously still could be). And, remember, you have no idea what kind of conditions (if any) those senior to you have put on their AE preference(s). Maybe the 23 pilots (example) senior to you who are listed as having the category as their #1 preference might have also qualified that #1 preference by restricting it to "award if top 25%" for example.
That page can give you a very general idea if you are in the ball park for an award but, especially with this award, when you have 589 surpluses/displacements, their numerosity further muddies an already fuzzy metric.
This will truly be an AE like we haven't seen in 12-13 years, if ever. Those hired since 2013 have not seen a bid with a significant number of surpluses/displacements. However, unlike the bankruptcy era when displacements far outnumbered vacancies, those 589 surpluses/displacements are being mitigated by 2000+ vacancies.
Hopefully this MOAB doesn't melt the Crew Resources IT platform. 😁 Gonna be a lot of midnight oil burning on VA Ave as Crew Resources tries to figure out the training impact. It's gonna be YUUUGGE!

Yup....all that number reflects is the number of pilots senior to you who have that category somewhere on their AE preference template. It does not reflect pilot preferences for that category via MD or VD.

Wisdom and guidance is needed! On the fence as to which way to go. FO, SEA 73 or ER (currently on the 73). Live in base, on the bubble between a line and reserve. I have been leaning heavily on staying put, am I passing up a good opportunity to hop on the ER? The pay bump isn't significant but how about the QOL? Curious to what you all may think, thanks.

Again, I'm currently on the 73N and was awarded 330B on the last bid. I have 7ER higher in my displacement bid than just going back to the 73N. DTW73N trips are generally much better than the DTW7ER but I just want to fly that jet and get out of the closet space 73N cockpit.
