The sooner they put it out the sooner they can assign 220 Pilots training in April. Also no super senior category draw down this bid (think 747) so that probably will help them expedite. Nevertheless I would be very surprised to see it out today.

My understanding is if they awarded a training bypass to a 1500 seniority pilot with 8 months remaining, they also have to honor 1499 who requested bypass with 3 years remaining. I can't find a contract reference, so please don't take this as fact.

They mentioned that senior pilots with more than two years remaining were requesting a training bypass. That limited the bypasses that would be awarded to junior pilots with less time remaining. I bet there will be some surprised pilots in training this time.

The good news for the company is that almost every retiring pilot had 5 weeks of vacation and new hires have only 2. And they also put 270 sick hours back in the pot where a new hire takes 75. It would be interesting to have DALPA plot out the trend lines of how much sick and vacation time is allocated year over year and the average/medians.
