Oh puleeeeze
If someone doesn't want to bid a SIL, that is their choice.
From Buck Rogers
Man, we're on a roll. Why stop there. Let's reduce the ALV to 60 hrs and none up this pick up to ALV + 15 crap. Just think of how many CAPT positions we could create!! Rising tide and all. Think of the growth in pilot hiring......why, they won't be able to man the air line..... just think of the power we will yield going into negotiations.
You guys crack me up.....Did ALPA and MGT explain that we are a seniority based system....not a socialist based system.....been watching the MSNBC and the 20 Dem hopefuls much?

Nope, its the same thing. In for a penny, in for a pound. Just one example of this is eliminating the swap loopholes to increase the staffing on the 777. More higher paying jobs for the group vs higher pay for the individual. You can't have it both ways and claim you value the group over the individual.

Update; whole schedule was dropped with the exception of one trip. Sitting on 29 hours of credit for April now and the open time/swap boards are sparse. Not concerned, plenty of blanket WS in. Always have a MLOA backup as well. It will be interesting to see what dribbles its way on to my schedule. This may be the first time of a long career of dropping and selectively picking up or the last time. I do suspect this technique strongly favors seniority as it should (which I don’t have a ton of).

How do you ensure that you can get to the base you’re awarded a trip out of? Do you put 12 hours Notice minimum or must start with DH? Don’t want to bias to much out with preferences.

OOB WS’s are only awarded the day prior or same day. If the day prior you are not required to fly the trip unless you acknowledge the trip. If the same day it’s a proffer.

Why don't they just offer blank regular lines for, let's say, 20 people in each category?
If they did, then all the seniors who take the good trips via PBS, won't drop them into the pot for lesser men and women, they'd be bid by lesser men and women in the first place!
That, and not secretly "giving'" them via swap with friends to juniors who couldn't ever get them !

Many of us, myself included, value the QOL provided by having no obligation to the company in exchange for 40 hours of pay. I'm also in favor of keeping the trip swaps as they are. I would swap over 100, followed by a 40 hour SIL if the option were available. I'm just not going to argue it is in the best interest of everyone in a veiled attempt to claim the moral high ground. They were provisions in the contract, period. You can't claim "rising tide..., better for everyone..., etc if you are in favor of swaps and against SILS.
