No one wakes up one morning and decides they’re going to be an alcoholic. Pilots aren’t immune to the same diseases as the rest of the population.
I hope there is still time for rehab and reconciliation for this pilot who I know is a good and decent man. It appears he is struggling and in the fight for his life.
Nothing in aviation is more sacred than the public trust and I am thankful that the system worked and the brake was never released. I hope the rest of the system becomes available to him now.

A few years ago I was in Jamaica at the Riu. This guy in the pool was hammered. A girl swims up to him and said “Hey you were our pilot today “. That should have been his cue to stop drinking and go to his room but nope! The CA came down to the lobby a few hours later and told him it was time to go to his room after he fell down and yes it was Delta I asked her.
Who cares. 24-26 hour overnights are not rare in out of country places. Oh...so you’re a fellow pilot and just watched but come on here and spout all the trash about it. Got it.

I’m not spouting about it . It’s all over the national news slick.

I don't represent Delta in my bathing suit in the hotel pool. Not a single person on planet Earth cares about the article headline "Delta pilot drunk in hotel pool with the rest of vacationers 20 hours before work.". Go back under your bridge.

You’re spouting about a guy in a speedo you were watching who you knew was a pilot and you thought there was an issue but just carried on. I don’t work for delta and quite frankly laugh when I try to say hello to them in the airport but they can’t pull the stick out of their hats. I still would be looking out for a fellow pilot if I thought something didn’t look right regardless of the airline.
