See my post.

Step 1 in this career should be ... get a degree.

What the majors want:

Pilots who see the requirements to get hired laid out before them and then set out to accomplish those requirements.

What the majors don’t want:

Pilots who see the requirements laid out before them and then say, “I have a lot of hours. Your requirements don’t make sense. You should offer me a job because I have a lot of hours.”

What the majors REALLY don’t want:

Same as #2 but with several “4-engine-jet” references sprinkled in there.

I'm not arguing that, I'm saying that the degree cost him the flow, he still had the SSP, which didn't require a degree. Delta agreed not to count your education, or lack there of, towards the interview score. For the SSP, it was only how you did that day of the interview, testing, cog, and panel. You could look at it another way, those of us who worked hard in college, got no points over the people who didn't.

I think you guys are mislabeling his point as ‘woe is me’ whining about his own individual situation. He’s trying, maybe unsuccessfully, to highlight the hypocrisy of the C-scale system. His two year degree (or no degree for that matter) is perfectly acceptable to Delta to fly their Diamond members about the country (and CA/MX) so long as he does it for a severely reduced wage. If Delta “truly” believes that it takes a four year degree to safely transport their passengers then they should apply that to all of their flight segments.

In reality DL doesn’t care if you have a degree or not, they simply know they can use it against you to keep you on a lower pay scale.

Unity only happens if you are willing to unite with EVERYONE across the board. Ridiculing someone for not getting a four year degree and telling them they deserve C-scale wages as a result only perpetuates the management win.

This industry is crazy and unfair, but so is life.
It's a FOUR engine RJ. Not a measly two engine RJ. FAR superior.

I think that argument is more than ten yrs old and it was more than ten years old when i first heard it ten years ago and 20 years ago when he first heard it, it was not a new or novel concept.

What do you want from us? We cant change the industry and there is no solidarity. Welcome to the airlines.

Unity. That’s all I want from any pilot. I know, it’s a lot to ask.

I’m sure I have probably 3 times the experience u had before u made it to “Delta” ...
You’ve had your entire life to get a 4 year degree. It’s not like it wasn’t required / highly preferred in the 90’s. Now you’re a senior Endeavor Captain, doing a job I imagine you enjoy, and earning an income that’s probably in the top .5% nationally for people without a 4 year college degree. If you’ve managed to find and maintain happiness in your personal life, then you’ve absolutely won the lottery! (Not being facetious). I can say, it would’ve been nice not having had been burdened by that $400/month student loan payment in my early / mid twenties during the ‘08-‘10 crash / career stagnation.
