The idea would be more because there are so many MIA O&D flights with LATAM's route structure already it would be a good place to network together.

LATAM feed could easily relocate to the ATL.
Regardless, it would be great news for ATL, NYC and DTW, as there would be a giant sucking sound from the top of each category list in those bases.

I don’t think LATAM would relocate, as the amount of Central and South America traffic they get from south Florida alone has to be pretty huge. That’s why American does most of its south flying out of there.

O&D traffic won't fill up a plane. Or more precisely, when it doesn't, you can add discounted feed from other cities to keep the route profitable.

And it lets you add other routes to that city that might not have enough O&D traffic on their own but now will when the connections are factored in.

The point is that you can now add additional city pairs that might not have O&D traffic on their own to MIA but will with the connections as well as not forcing 3+ legs to connect through ATL or another hub to MIA.
