Maybe he’s a commuter too. Or maybe he’s not. It’s none of our business as long as he’s working under the contract.
Griping about it, and especially using his/her initials on a public forum (presumably in an attempt to shame him/her into changing their behavior) is poor form. |
If it hasn't happened to you, then your're not playing the game hard enough. I've taken 2 OOBWS in my career. Both were great deals for me. I've "missed out" on GS because of OOBWS more times than I can count. S(hi)tuff happens.
Getting around the censor is getting harder. |

Sure Jan.
zero reserves. 5 GS given out so far and said pilot OOBWS DH both ways trip preventing a commuter from doing a GS. But yes its allowed like costco return policy. |

That commuter doing a green slip prevents the company from staffing the airline properly so that your average line holders, that don’t survive on green slips, can’t drop days and or swap trips and improve their quality of life. Everyone works the system differently. I’ve met SS and his WS has saved me multiple times from being called on a reserve trip and I got to spend more time at home with my family. SS works smarter not harder. So while you scold him for doing a white slip and taking a green slip from someone, People who do green slips should be scolded as well for letting the company know they don’t need to staff properly because money hungry pilots will save the day.

To be clear, I don't hate the player. More power to him. I drop down to single and double days on reserve to play games for QOL my own way. And I've definitely stayed home for OOB guys picking stuff up. Just how it is. Initials doesn't mean anything personal and if you think it does, don't look at literally any thread on this forum. It also backfires on him sometimes too, kinda like blanket dropping used to do (when we had coverage). Sometimes there's nothing to pick up. Part of the game.
Point is I didn't use the guy's name, and people who recognize his initials didn't learn anything new they didn't already know. If it bothers you, toughen up and get over it. |

Yep! We all know the NY initials SS....freakin guy loves an OOBWS. Especially when we have zero reserve coverage.
Our flying in DTW went to crap once the west coast flying stopped. Which is fine, if you're into the Dakota's in January. |
I’d be very surprised to see LAX fall below 10,700 in any category.

NYC is always the wild card...revolving door of pilots , $200 a night hotel rooms, 3 airports....not the easiest of commutes.
The trips on the 320 are bad, have been since the 88 went away. I am amazed at the amount of one day trips. |
