Georgia cases are decreasing despite greater testing three weeks after opening.

there’s a study of 12 big coronavirus studies that said 7 of 12 said fatality rate similar to flu, 2 said slightly lower and 2 slightly higher. So 9/12 said same or less.

if you look at Pennsylvania, 4600 deaths, 70% are from nursing homes... and yet 13,000,000 on house arrest.

The nursing home debacle needs to become a criminal investigation. Certain governors ordered homes to accept covid positive patients against their will.

Not only that, some of the nursing homes have been telling residents that they (the nursing homes) get to keep the resident’s stimulus checks if the resident is on Medicaid. Blatantly illegal.

Hospitalization rate is not lagging. It is the better of the indicators and is falling all over the country. Faster in the states that opened early/never closed down.

Here's NYC for example:

source is here:https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page
go down to "Daily Counts" top left of graph click "hospitalizations". Deaths are lagging. Hospitalization is accurate to within 3 days. the last bar is the 17th. I pulled the chart this morning.

Been a few years. My dad was in a nursing home. Got him on medicaid. (He subsisted on social security and a meager pension, so he couldn't afford a nursing home, but was definitely in need of one).
As far as I remember, you can only have a certain max income and assets for medicaid. Maybe like 800 bucks a month and maybe like $500 or $1000 in assets. Anything beyond that, Medicaid could "take" to offset the cost.

Yep just like so many things (medical costs, long term care, legal costs, etc) the rich don't have to worry about it, the poor are just given it, and the middle class gets a lifetime of wealth confiscated. I'm sure that will change when every "citizen of the world" gets access to the same entitlements.

Yep understand, been through same on my end too. Problem is, the checks are considered tax credits. FTC is about to come down hard on some nursing homes if they don’t reimburse the money.

At least the CDC is on top of things and doesn’t keep changing directions.... how do they expect anyone to take them seriously anymore?

Personally, I dig data. It would seem that the CDC is collecting and studying it. Did you think that when everyone (including the CDC) was saying that there is much we have to learn about COVID that somehow they should already know the answers?

Being unable to change directions is a dangerous trait, IMHO. I appreciate the CDC's fact- and (where possible) research-based information.

Ok, I’ll give you that. I’m just a little tired of continuing to crush our economy, all our livelihoods, and flat out being bored, for what is becoming no good reason. And the weather stinks, so I can’t go fish. And I can’t go offshore because I’m on long call. So I sit here on APC watching the rain. And I’ve reached the end of the Internet. All of it.
