Early Out,Retirement,Furlough Negotiation

How some quickly forget our sins of the past. 1 minute prior to Covid happening we still had a concessionary contract left over from 14-15 years ago. Don’t ever agree to concessions. We have a contract. The floor has never been tested until now. It’s working.

Just from a numbers point of view and not a discussion of whether we should trade ALV vs furloughs:
The majority of pilots did not get displaced, a lot that did had a lateral move i.e. 777 to 350, a base move to same equipment, and a surprising number actually moved up in equipment pay. So for the majority of pilots an ALV reduction is a paycut.

So now we are paying with concessions for the cancellation of the MOAD, not the early out or furlough protection? That was the easiest pressure tactic to create in this "crisis." Didn't the last bid get cancelled for extenuating circumstances? I think we will have more circumstances in our future. Be careful what you are willing to move off your positions for.

So, no I don't consider a ALV reduction a concession, especially if it prevents massive displacements and furloughs.
We were trying to gain quality of life. Raise the ADG to 5:30 or something and let us pick up if we want, or alternatively enjoy the lull with family time or hobbies.
Current job at 65 hours = $18,186
Future Award at 72 hours = $14,040

They are looking a few more years down the road. Those retiring by next May are not being targeted (but will be included.)

Displacement + ALV reduction = Hell No.

After you read my intro comments below that question your record as an interpreter of the will of our pilot group. please weigh-in on the questions that follow.
Your record is roughly 1-15. You called the failed TA a few years ago correctly. That's it. You famously opposed a couple stupendously "no brainer" agreements that were ratified by well over 80% of the pilots. You predicted that American was going to "clean our clocks" about a year before they went into Chapter 11. You predicted the pilot group would rise up, install DPA, and squash the "bloated blob" ALPA. That was about a year before you went to the ALPA BOD to serve as the bartender for ALPA. I'm assigning a Credibility Index of .067, although I fully acknowledge you could be correct about our pilot group today not wanting concessions.
Here's the rub: "Concessions" is a squishy term. You were very vocal back at NWA when the Monthly Cap was raised from 75 to 80...claiming it was a "concession". Ditto the contract extension in 2003 that gave us a 10% pay increase in exchange for simply extending our amendable date.
The questions: Were increases to permitted flying a concession? If the pilot group can get longterm improvements to our PWA as part of a short-term reduction in the ALV, would that be a concession? Should Delta be compared directly to other airlines in all matters of pilot actions?*
* Caution! This works in both directions!

This cracks me up. No one knows what’s in EO. But we are all fighting over it. Bottom line no concessions no memrat. If MEC thinks there is concessions than we might vote on it. But don’t be so sure there will be memrat!
