“Let someone else take far bigger cuts?” Are you serious? I’m saying your proposal cuts your pay 17% while mine is cut 45% and you’re saying that I’m the only one arguing for a solution where someone takes “far bigger cuts?” Do they breathe oxygen on your home planet?
And my 45% cut is going from NB A at 83 hours/month to NB B at 60 hours/month. It’s pretty easy for you to advocate for an LOA where you’re only taking a 17% cut in hours at the same pay rate.

I have taken a 45% pay cut. It’s not fun when both your kids are in college. I did what I had to do to take care of my family by working two jobs. I still advocated for the furloughed pilots and wanted DALPA to pass a assessment to pay each pilot on the street 3000.00. I learned a lot about the character of some of our pilots during that time.

I don't know if some of these guys spouting off are DAL pilots, I certainly hope not. I've been furloughed before and watched as guys still picked up open time...a real kick to the nads.
Im sure your 2500 Delta brothers and sisters that got letters today feel warm and cozy reading your comments you wouldn't temporarily reduce ALV or something to keep everyone employed. You don't even know the details of the LOA. Maybe JB is setting the bar here. I hope so and am glad all the Jr JB guys and gals can stop worrying about if they are hitting the street or not. Congrats.
To the DAL pilots facing a possible furlough, I hope something pulls through and can be worked out for you. Everyone emails a bunch of furlough resources and preparation advice to the pilots which is great, but it all lies on us as individuals to make ends meet. It sucks and hopefully there will be minimal if none, and short lived. I can tell you...for me on the street for 2 plus years, my brothers and sisters having my back meant the world. Knowing they keep flying but not forgetting the ones not. And fighting to get them back. Best of luck to you.

I think there may be a misperception here that is important to clarify. At JetBlue, ALV is just that: Average Line Value. It has no bearing on anyone's minimum pay. Minimum pay is governed by the MMG, which is 70 for lineholders and 75 for reserves. They could drop the ALV to 20 and everyone would be paid 70 or 75. So if anyone is getting their panties in a wad over JB potentially dropping ALV, maybe some introspection on why a certain Air Line pilot group negotiated that a reserve gets paid based on ALV is in order instead of cries that JB is dragging down the industry.

Did some quick and dirty math, and made some assumptions, but it looks like about a 10hr/month AVL reduction would be more than enough to keep all pilots on the list. This doesn't take into effect training cost reductions.

A critical point. IF we did agree to "work less, but not for less", the fact we are saving the company a princely sum must mitigate any reduction.

The company will probably view that differently. Simply furloughing is almost certainly going to be cheaper for the company. Furloughs are what we are trying to mitigate here.
