This was totally self induced. Now ,not only is a huge segment of our total economy a wasteland, but people like you thank the .gov for salvation in Oliver Twist-ish fashion. We are truly on the road to serfdom.

In a (probably futile) effort to prevent every thread from becoming about COVID we will try this:
“Grand overreaction to a virus”
The two big problems I see with that:
Not official numbers, but when I did a cursory count, we have something like 700-800 of the 1700 that don't have a category to go back to.
-Plane is gone, in case of M88s
-Base is gone, in case of CVG
-Category is probably 'unholdable' at our seniority now, in the case of the 7ER & 765
-Any of us who were Captains, that isn't happening. Even left to right seat is a full ride I think.
I'm 300 into the UNAs. I was NYC7ERB going to NYC73NA when this grand overreaction to a virus began.
How are we going to rationalize a very junior to me guy who left the 73NB or 220B, now back on that, making far more than my 717B UNA pay, when I'm not even given a choice.
Company made this disaster, partially in anti union posturing. . They can live with it.
Note that out peer competitor (United) hasn't done as crazy of a a displacement and training nightmare. Can't speak to American, haven't really looked closely at their situation.

It would have been better if they hadn't overreacted to begin with....you'll see soon enough.

Wow! You’re right, I should be angry that things aren’t worse. I didn’t ask for any handout from the Government. I had absolutely nothing to do with anything that has happened this past year, outside my own small little world. I was just pointing out how much worse things could have been, had the Government not helped.

They are web based. If you were in charge of the coast guard analysis, you would have access under the SECNAV portal.
Its real. You don't want it, but for people under 65 without comorbidities its just not that deadly.

Then again, we were not counting died from terminal COPD while covid positive as a COVID death. We differentiated died of COVID vs died with COVID.
If I die in a car crash tomorrow I'd count under some systems as a COVID death because I have a positive PCR in the last 14 days and haven't hit the "im cured" threshold.
But the Navy would not count that as a COVID death.

Oh, it was and still is a struggle to get certain factions to report accurate numbers.
We had to go to a database tying cases to id numbers because some people who actually argued that we need to pump up numbers would report the sane case 3x or more. One guy got reported as 6 cases. Because everyone wanted to report it.
At the sailors squadron
At the squadrons type wing
At the carrier air wing
At the treating clinic
At the base the command is at
At the hospital that is the clinics parent command.
