Same. Caesars or Bellagio, combined Red Flag roll call, late 2005 or early 2006.

Those were the days.

Indeed. I’d do it all over again. My dad is a Vietnam-era Herk driver and he says he would too.

Late 80's Nellis O'club was epic - before they built the new one.

Those days are loooooonnnnnggggggg gone.

I did my last flag in late '06. Still a decent time though.

06 or 07, the Saturday morning after Dos Gringos played at the Club...my dad called me.

“What the hell happened at the club last night?!?”

He’d gotten a haircut at the club. As he walked in, broken furniture, broken glass all over in the back parking lot. Probably some hung over young pilots helping clean up.

Yeah, those days are long gone. Do they even have Clubs any more, even “Consolidated” Clubs (barf)?

I doubt they were hungover. Still drunk, more likely...and possibly still drinking?

The grassy knoll always claimed a few victims as well. I think the CE guys built it on purpose for just that.

If you've ever tried to make it from the new o'club to the "q's" you know which one I'm talking about. After an epic night, if you rise early enough (or just never went to bed), there were always 2-3 bodies littered about. Seemed to claim many Brits if I'm not mistaken ;)

i have it on good authority that the knoll is a comfy place to sleep it off!

A few years ago the Nellis club tried to charge $20 cover on patch night. There was nearly a riot at the front door and the (much smarter) wives busted their way in through the kitchen.

I’d like to say I’m surprised, but I’m not. Wow.

Good on the ladies.

Not to be a pessimist, but is it too early to call it the Mothers' Day Meltdown?

In ATL now after a reroute, and it appears to be the “Monday evening meltdown” after a thunderstorm earlier.

We are so screwed this summer.

DeltaboundRedux 05-03-2021 06:57 PM

‘Nah. It’ll be fine.

Actually, I priced some tickets for personal travel post May 1 Delta seat block.

I was shocked big-D was by far the cheapest seat out there. (When I gotta pay, $$$ matters) That was a first.

Not sure if that means anything.

we get the thunderstorm forecast yet for this year? One of posters on here gives us a long range (seasonal) outlook. Kinda nuts.

haha not sure about thunderstorm but there’s a 100% chance of a clusterf@ck IMHO.

After watching the operation the last few weeks, it’s becoming increasingly obvious we have a major problem.

According to "top men" they had to dump the ticket price to fill the airplanes. They expect (hope) yields to recover midsummer

Must be market specific. Just did a search for mid July on a typical leisure route my family does and prices are higher than I’ve ever seen.

Leisure routes are full. The 75% of our other routes are not

In the past 24 hours I’ve had 9 calls from ARCOS and 1 IA call...

Well, so far, Memorial Day weekend doesn’t look like it’s going to have a big meltdown. Only 1 cancellation so far (DEN-LAS). Lots of GSs and good weather is helping.

Looks like that was a charter, might not have been an operational cancellation

Yup the Delta operation has held up very well for the first time in a long time on a holiday weekend. Pretty impressive. Kudos to the training department for getting folks back online quick. Captain upgrades start in June so FO shortage could return

plenty of FOs coming back from NQAT should help this

I think it was the Tiger Team from the last meltdown that really saved the day.

interceptorpilo 05-30-2021 02:03 PM

Or maybe they just scheduled for the pilots they have?

NuGuy 05-30-2021 03:10 PM

it's held aloft by green slips. That is not lasting solution.

I got OE bought off, then GS'd 2 trips in the footprint. I was surprised I got the second one but if you look at our reserve coverage it explains it all.

I could GS again if I wanted, or pick up in open/swap. I could beat myself up, but I'm thrashed from this month. I'll take my time off now.

Going to be a long summer.

Take it easy out there Trip

Dude, that's how Delta runs its operation, on GreenSlips. Has been that way for years.

Win-win, really. Management can tout high employee utilization, those who want to work can make tons of cash.

My guess is Delta will want to reduce the multiplier to 1.75 or 1.5 in exchange for something relatively inconsequential to them (positive space commute?). Stand strong on the 2x GS multiplier.

It was 1.5 multiplier when I was hired in 08. Cut in bankruptcy. Most saw this as not worth their time to GS especially as a line holder. They would go out to Junior reserve guys but overall not alot of takers. So little that Delta went back to double pay GS to entice guys to put in for them again. If I remember right this wasn’t even a negotiated item just something they saw needed to happen to get guys to fly them again. I doubt they want to try that again as guys have previously said Delta needs GS to survive!

Supply and demand, there's a better chance it goes to 2.5 or 3x.

No. It's been done before. They dropped it to 1.5 after bankruptcy. Rolling thunder happened regularly because the lineholder GSers dropped off a cliff. I doubt they would mess with that experiment again. It hurts staffing and requires more pilots.
