I think he is referring to someone sitting home 1000nm away…

Maybe we could have some of our pilots speak to the candidates beforehand. Oh yeah, maybe even have HR there as well, because they look for/ask about different sorts of things than pilots do. Maybe just get everyone together in a room and talk to the candidate, to see if they’re a good fit for the company culture.

That way we might be able to sort of “filter” or “screen” the type of people who might engage in egregious behavior like showing up looking like garbage, or being insubordinate. Because as we all know, it’s very expensive for a company to bring someone on board only to have to fire them later. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, etc.

I dunno, just a thought.
Does Delta offer pilot mentors to new hires? At 9E, we have a mentor program that seems to work fairly well.

Yes. I believe it’s actually a 121 requirement?

I do think I had one at skywest when I got hired there. If I did I obviously didn’t have too much interaction with them.

Yes some bad apples will move with the flow but honestly are they the only winners Delta has ever hired?

- CVG guy runs his wife through a wood chipper.

- ATL guy locks his wife up in a closet for 2 days.

These weren’t flows or NWA guys, these were good ol Delta boys. Not really sure these are on par with flipping someone the bird or answering the phone but they all made the news.

I hope anyone that does that gets caught and fired. That could easily be called theft.

Sorry to cut in, but I thought Mr Woodchipper was an Eastern guy from Connecticut?

Let’s not forget about a couple incidents of intoxicated pilots showing up the airplane over the last several years. There are bad apples in every airline.
