Agreed. Although add in the other comments, he was an angle shooter.

just talked to my neighbor 2 houses down. Laid off a 50k a year job. He came right out and said "with the covid stimulus money why waste the summer?"

I can respect he was honest.

If "Karma" is a real thing, when all that .gov money dries up in September, thus forcing a run on the available jobs out there, there will be a significant reduction in wage levels to go with it. I don't know that I could have sat on ass doing nothing simply because the .gov was paying me to do so. I wasn't raised that way.

That and "idle hands do the work of the devil." (That doesn't have to be religious, just a general observation of human behavior...for all the folks out there waiting to zing me.) And I think in my neighbors case that's true...hitting the sauce again and likely other substances too.

I'll randomly chime in here, I was furloughed last fall, my drinking picked up a bunch over the winter while I was out. Had to have a pep talk with myself and cut that way back. Doing "nothing" and feeling like **** about it wasn't a great place to be. Can't imagine it is for anyone especially those who enjoy other substances.

Appreciate the honesty. One side lesson of the last year is that we really were made for doing work.

And it looks like over 50% of your most senior 250 pilots have decided to take the flow. Everyone is a lifer until they have that flashy new job offer to the promise land waved in front their face.
