I'm prerty sure that's a mistake. There werent even any posted DTW 350 vacancies on the Aug AE but 25 got awarded it as backfills,, the junior-most award being around 12,000 seniority.

If it’s a mistake, it’s a mistake by the company. I’m in the 9/13 class and that was the official drop.

what thanks but no thanks? Does that mean you didn’t pass your background?

If the category has 100 pilots and the company needs 100 in the position, and 20 bid out, those backfills are eligible for new hires as long as everyone else on the seniority list who had a bid in was awarded a position. They don’t have to actually post positions as a part of an AE in order for spots to go to new hires.

It doesn't matter, if they needed to backfill and no one bid it then it can go to new hires. Congratulations new hires to 350!!

My point was that I'm pretty certain they backfilled all the vacated positions and thus there shouldn't be any available to new hires. Don't get me wrong, I think it would be cool if 350 started going to new hires. I just can't imagine nobody in the bottom 2,000ish on the seniority list wanted it and there really were unbid positions left after the Aug AE.

How many in the bottom 2,000 were seat locked and/or didnt want DTW? Its not completely unreasonable to think this is the case.

according to Widget Seniority, 32 people bid off the DTW 350B, but only 25 were awarded.

Quite a few, given how many were hired in the last year alone.

I’ve gotta think it’s the seat locks. Highest paying category, 100% commutable, efficient trips - I’d take that commute over slogging it out in the narrowbody trenches any day. 48 hours TAFB for 15:45 top rate pay plus international override, 2 legs total and a 24 hour layover in AMS to eat/sleep/work out to your heart’s content vs 15:45 lower rate non-commutable 3-day/69 hrs TAFB, 12 legs and two short layovers?

To each their own. Thank goodness we have a little of everything here but I really am shocked to see these 350Bs go unbid if that’s actually what happened.
