Yes I'm sure. As long as current pilots without seat locks who had bids in were awarded. In other words they have to backfill to do it, but the backfill can be new hires.
By your logic, if the company posted an AE for 20 NYC73N, and 20 pilots bid off A220 to go there, they would have to post another AE to even have any new hire vacancies.

That's the thing, the group at large WAS given the opportunity to bid them. Anyone with a bid in could get the position.

Again, this seems to follow with 22.E.10 which states, "If no pilot bids on a First Officer category vacancy, the Company may assign an entry level pilot to fill the vacancy." No mention is made of a contingent vacancy. If that unfilled contingent.vacancy remains, the Company can (and likely will) post it on the next AE...unless they are trying to shrink a category and then it vaporizes.

Actually, the group, as a whole, did not know there would be that contingent vacancy when the AE closed so they might not have bid for it, unlike a category vacancy where the whole seniority list is presumed to know there is a vacancy because that vacancy has been posted.

I heard new hires have been awarded 350B. Can anyone confirm this? I guess we must have had some infilled bids on the last AE. I am in ATL for training and have heard this from 3 different instructors but have not seen it via the class drop thread which seems odd.

For some reason people are saying DTW 350B is going to new hires because they didn’t backfill. Which doesn’t make sense. Under same logic, SEA330 and LAX350 should go to new hires as well because they had a negative net result from AE. Contract claims unbid VACANCIES can be awarded to new hires. Where was the vacancy to DTW350B? Somehow people time and time again listen to the rumors of sim instructors. As far as I’m concerned I have yet to find anything in contract that allows a new hire to bid onto a backfill position….

That sounds about as plausible as a bag of ....
