No base lock. Time to get to NYC from ATL would depend mostly on when the next AE (advanced entitlement/system-wide bid) came out and what your seniority could hold. The next one is rumored to be later this month, so if you were hired after that, it could be another few months before you could bid out of ATL.

is there’s a certain time for AE or is it at the company’s discretion?

100% Company Discretion, and they don’t have to award any of the positions they post!

It’s the stupidest system I’ve ever seen but Delta loves it, because they can basically do whatever they want.

that’s crazy. So a person’s best option is bid the base they want no matter the equipment and after the seat lock they can change their fleet?

Thus the instructions: Bid what you want, Want what you bid!

Because you might actually get it!

If your priority is a specific base, yes, bid everything in that base. If your priority is money, bid all the highest possible paying stuff, and commute to it.

How do you think a 6 month new hire got NYC 767 Captain? He BID IT!

Sorry I couldn’t find this by searching the thread…. if I come in with a 320 type does that increase my chances of getting that awarded in training or is it completely irrelevant?

To add, not only is it completely irrelevant, but even if you do get awarded the 320 you'll still have to do the full training course just like someone who has never flown an Airbus, except for one or two maneuvers on the check ride.

Yes, always bid the seat you want, no matter what is on the AE. This is true whether you have a seat lock or not. The company always has the discretion to award you a category even if you're still under a seat lock.
