With saying that if a person doesn’t get a73 ATL spot initially, how long before one can slide into 73 spot in ATL
For some time now, NH’s have been able to change almost immediately to a different base on their first AE bid, or second at the latest.

However, hiring is reportedly about to slow significantly from the levels of the last few years. That will likely slow the ability to change to at least some of the bases. To what extent is difficult to predict.

I’ll leave an ATL or MSP 73 pilot to offer current lineholder minimums.

New hire here. Can anyone help me on what's the flying like on the 717ATL as a new hire? Approximately how long before I can hold a line?
Trying to decide between 717 or 73N if the class drop allows it.
Thanks!

The 71 is more junior, and also a superior airplane. Why would you voluntarily subject yourself to the jury rigged jalopy that the 73 is?

I'm not sure how long it would take to hold a line, but reserve can be a pretty sweet gig, especially if you live within 2 ish hours of the airport.

The 717 is regional flying. Lots of Burgs and Villes. It is easy flying, some people would call it boring. Two time zones, no red eyes, longest leg is ~ 2:30. Most trips are Commutable. By and large the 717 trips still have a decent amount of credit (pay earned not on block time).

737 pays more, and has more “ interesting” destinations (mainly Caribbean flying). If you want transcons and to see more of the country then bid the 737, just be prepared to be cramped in the cockpit. Many 737 trips are “hard time” trips, meaning you’re blocking 21+ hours on a 4 day trip.

Time to hold a line on either fleet is probably about the same.

OO I believe is SkyWest. For some reason, DL feed carriers get the short straw on call for interview/class date. Some of the flows meter the transition way longer than an OTS (off-the-street) hire. OE is 'Online Experience', sometimes IOE 'Initial Online Experience'.

OE and IOE are “operating,” not online

Ill add to this though, that even though the 717 is the lowest paying/smallest and maybe least desirable fleet in some folks eye's, it's a smaller fleet, so relatively speaking less new hires come to it compared to the 320/737, and I don't believe anyone really voluntarily bids to the right seat of it from another airframe. So one's seniority rise isn't really going to be the maddog vertical rise that it might have been in the past. As of right now, id be more senior on the 320/737 than I currently am on the 717 by just under 10% points.
