Haha, you see what I did there? I made a joke about there being day trips.

Not a chance I leave on a day trip without a bag (ref: reroutes).

Left on a ORD/SDF turn, ORD opened six days later.

I had a luggage works for ten years, went to a Briggs and Riley and haven’t looked back, only about $100 more. Easier to get into just about any overhead burn. I can fit more stuff in it and is way lighter. And when you want to be stealthy it doesn’t scream I work for the airlines

Super helpful thread, thank you!
I’ve used several flight bags over the years (Mostly from LW and Strongbags, both high quality brands). At the regionals, I packed food most trips, so I needed a large-ish cooler bag. I’m now on the ER, and rarely pack food that needs to be chilled, so I downsized to the JetPack I from AeroCoast, and it’s been great so far. It has a ton of space for two iPads, clipboard, external batteries, flashlight, pens, sunshades, snacks, passport, compact umbrella, and small binoculars, but takes up a pretty small footprint. (It fits perfect next to the ER seat, even when it’s moved fully to the outside.) It’s can technically be used as a back-pack as well, but I’ve never used it that way as it works great with the LW J-Hook.

I have a damn near brand new 26 in Luggage Works and a 12 year old 22 in Luggage Works. I just ditched it last month for a travel pro FC5. No regrets. Significantly better. I’m over the heavy LW. Never again. If the TP doesn’t last I’ll be buying a Briggs and Riley.

Lots of good suggestions here.

For the entire travel setup, do people usually have 2 or 3 bags? I'm trying to travel in the fewest items possible:

1. Main travel luggage
2. Flight bag
3. Dedicated cooler (how big?)

Or, do you get an integrated flight bag cooler (like Luggage Works has) to only have 2 bags?

Does this vary greatly dependent on fleet? I feel like the 737 would be difficult to travel with 3 total bags, but maybe not so much on the 7ER.

I use 3, but I usually travel with a lot of food, and with the way COVID lockdowns have been all over the place, I doubt that’ll change any time soon. It’s not a variety of food, but I can bring enough for a 5 day in a bag.

Fit right in with the bums in the tenderloin too.

When the ask about the suit? I tell them I am "captain obvious - you know from the TV commercial" seems to hold them off, I think the bags lend to the authenticity.

I've got the 22 LW, doesn't work for the longer 5 days. So I got the 26. It doesn't fit "like a book" in the bins and am frequently dealing with PO'd FAs (never mind the non-rev FA that just stuffed 7 bags in the over heads, my one is the issue - I digress)

Anyway the Briggs is looking good. Those at Crew Outfitters?
