The metal frame LW is massively overkill these days. You aren’t throwing 50lbs of charts off the front, no need. The frame bends, scratches, rusts. I have the plastic frame one and it’s much better. Lighter, still strong, and doesn’t scrape everything and look like crap after a few rides. I think most people buy them out of habit, I genuinely found the metal one was worse than the plastic, as far as strength. Wobbled and needed ample amounts of thread lock to stay together. Don’t blow $300-500 on one of these. If you want to spend big money, go B+R and have a warranty, or go cheaper and just replace every few years.

This is it, price has gone up since by the looks of it.

Bought the wife the Aurora one and I’m envious of how much lighter it is even compared to the executive. Only question is how well it holds up when you get an RJ deadhead and have to pink tag it. I’d consider the Briggs for my next bag. Very functional, light, and doesn’t scream crew when out of uniform.

I use this bag and it has been great:
Andare Luggage 22"
Carbon fiber, super lightweight, used it for about 5 years now and haven't had any damage or needed to fix anything.
I went online to look it up to find a link to post here and I have no idea why it's on sale from $500 to $80, but I literally just ordered another one to have on hand as a backup/replacement whenever the time comes. I don't think you'll find a better bag for that price. It's very comparable in style and function to the travelpro carbon fiber bags that are ~$300. One thing that I really like about this bag over the TP is that the wheel housing takes up very little space inside the main luggage compartment. Several other bags that I have seen have a pretty large indent inside the suitcase that takes up valuable packing real estate.

Is there way you can attach a J hook on top Andare Luggage 22? like you would on Travel Pro or Luggage Works?

Does it fit well under a jumpseat?

It comes with a strap with a clip on in. Takes a split second longer to connect than just dropping a bag on a J hook but it’s also much more secure as the attached bag wont ever come off accidentally. I had an FA once leave her bag at the airport when she was on the escalator her bag unhooked itself as the step lifted it up and she didn’t realize it. Thankfully someone saw it just sitting at the bottom of the escalator and turned it in to lost and found and she got it back.

I have the vortex. No issues with the handle but it’s a more traditional style vs the Helix.

Here’s one I’ve only seen one other pilot use…. Clubglove CG22. https://www.clubglove.com/viewproduct/cg22/ I got this when I upgraded on the 737. Over the years I’ve lugged around and repaired the LW bags countless times and besides not fitting well on the 73, was sick of it. This is the best bag I’ve used yet. Dimensionally a little different than the usual, even though the cubic inches are similar it seems like it fits more than my old LW. More efficient I suppose. Waaaaay lighter and easier to move around. Two years into it and it’s holding up well, I’d put it in the very durable category. Never had an issue fitting in RJ overheads while deadheading. Plus, I don’t look like a dork when using it for personal travel. You can find them for less on Amazon, Sporty’s, etc from time to time. Highly recommend.
