- this is a total win for the company. They’ve wanted this for a long time
- just remember, DALPA negotiated the Pacific scope to replace the Nartita required slots.
after the LOA was signed, DAL shut down Narita flying and outsourced almost all of our Pacific flying
Less than 10yrs?
vote no

I guess you’ve been given an advance copy of the TA since you seem to know that it is a total win for the company. Any details you can provide would be great.

So management wants to go over 40% on a foreign carrier and that will allow Delta pilots to fly more WB block hours? It doesn't make sense to me. Haven't made up my mind, but didn't the ALPA scope compliance officer from national take a management position at Delta, on Delta's behalf, to negotiate this? How could allowing Delta to place code on 100% of a given Korean flight allow us to grow in EU? Why wouldn't we just expand in EU anyways and keep the 40% limitation in place at Korean? Especially if 321s are flying the 8.5 hour stuff out of JFK and BOS. What exactly will the WB then be flying?

I know, I jumped around a bit in there.
This is pretty much what I tried to articulate on page 2 or 3. And Trip7’s response was that my comments were ridiculous and didn’t deserve a response. I asked what parts of my comments were ridiculous and he responded that my whole argument was garbage. I am almost certain I will be a NO because 1. Management shills want it and 2. It should be rolled into the whole contract.

Are you talking about the guy ALPA blasted for turning against the pilots? (I think it was c16 specifically that put him on blast, but I can’t remember off the top of my head). IDK if he was on the other side of this particular deal, but I assume he was. If so, based on what others have said about his role and knowledge, that’s concerning and makes me even more skeptical.

This whole proposal. I try to be optimistic, maybe management learned a better way after most of the JV and CS failed. Then part of me knows the type, if you fail, keep trying until it works. Losing is weakness, whether it was a good decision or not.

Same. My main issue is with point number 2. All of this needs to be done and presented to us as a whole TA. With retro.

Rick Dominguez (Desi) is one of the smartest and honest men I’ve met. He was the Exec Admin for several MEC Chairmen and two ALPA Presidents. He was effectively fired by the NWA faction of the Delta MEC and again when we failed at the BOD, losing our seats at national.

He was (and probably is) a Delta pilot advocate. He wrote much of our current Section 1. He speaks the language and in contrast to other Delta managers who probably have no idea why we want, or need, scope; Desi gets it.

He does not tolerate fools or liars. I have no idea how he views folks on our negotiating committee. I hear he is working well with them. I have a lot of respect for the man’s abilities.

The man who is now tasked by management to shape SCOPE for the future business plan, which (is no secret) is International expansion. Funny I haven't heard the term "virtual merger" lately but that's the plan JV+equity to circumvent an actual merger which would require alignment of labor groups. I don't know the guy and I don't care. He was our SCOPE guru and now he works for the other side.
