Right?! You're telling me I don't have to use my APD?! Done.

Too low

The Yes vote will be 99%. I’ve never seen a pilot group so unified and hate management this much.

Thanks for all you do

DeltaboundRedux 10-31-2022 10:53 AM

Wait, what?

With certain captains, you can drop a trip with a drop of the hat?

Nice. I'd put those on the "must fly with" PBS.

I hope you are correct…that’s about 5%, sounds about right.

Just got an email from ALPA

Today, voting closed on a historic strike authorization ballot– the first one conducted by the Delta pilots since 2006 – with an outstanding 96% participation and 99% of us voting in favor of strike authorization.

20Fathoms 10-31-2022 11:54 AM

It is indeed 96/99. Not bad at all.

TurbineBlade 10-31-2022 11:54 AM

We need to blow up the rat.

Wow, I was getting worried, as I received three auto-dial calls from ALPA in the past week (including this morning), encouraging me to vote. Thought that was an indicator of poor participation as the deadline loomed. This is really good news, and a powerful sledge to swing!

Hopefully, this will be on the national news tonight.

Those robo calls were all part of the pre-planned comm strategy

The captain said if the FO hadn’t had the hat he would have had him removed from the flight. When the FO returned to base he shared the story with the union rep. They were not surprised by the name of the ATL captain. My bet is he’s a “no” vote.

When that all settles out I bet it would be PTO.

ALPA should be running Ads with the 99% vote and picketing. Strongly suggesting customers book other airlines this holiday season in case we are released.

Maybe give our c-suite a 24-hour courtesy "heads-up". I agree with you...the union has yet to get devious and/or creative.

Go tell that captain to stick his hat up his tail one.

Just sayin a little heads up ALPA has approached CNBC for some air time might expedite a real offer.

Pretty sure both parties knew this outcome and have prepared statements. Bringing the food fight to the press is the best thing for us. Honestly I don't think anything will expedite an offer until this gets ugly. I've seen it too many times before. Parking us expedites the ugly.

DeltaboundRedux 10-31-2022 12:52 PM

Uh.

With lopsided numbers like that, it looks like hat wearing has little or no predictive value on how a pilot votes on a strike vote.

Still, have to hand it to the MEC, it was a pretty smart campaign to signal strength in numbers for a couple of months before calling for a vote.

One of the best MEC's we have had, and I have a whole new level of respect for this pilot group.

I'll believe it when they bring us a contract. Until then they are just a bunch of trough dwellers. They haven't done anything yet

You do realize that reps are line pilots who fly the line 3 weeks out of the month? They are not on full time flight pay loss. they do quite a bit of work on their unpaid time. Maybe you could say "thank you" to your reps at some point. Instead of assuming they are just trying to sell you out.

I think they've done a damn sight more than any DALPA MEC since bankruptcy. Would you rather they brought you a **** contract like C12, before the amendable date?

Partly agree. We all know most likely JA is out the door without a contract being signed. And ALPA seems to be more a self serving organization than anything. Write them about the KCM fiasco and see how they respond (they will just deflect blame - to the TSA or to the local LEC's, anyone but themselves). This vote has at least partly restored my faith in this profession and Delta pilots. Glad that a 99% majority of 96% of us can agree on a position. Incredible really when you think about it in today's polarized world and see all the bickering that goes on in here.

beernutt 10-31-2022 02:09 PM

Check out C16’s vice chair schedule for October and get back to me on that ‘flying the line 3 weeks of the month’ thing.

WHACKMASTER 10-31-2022 02:13 PM

I know you can’t wait to vote yes but the good ol days are gone. We have as a group decided to wait for the right deal, not the first and easiest.

Vsop 10-31-2022 02:27 PM

Great job everyone. I am relieved. Every time I saw a hat I would get nervous.

They could bring us a contract yesterday. It would probably look similar to the United TA. But hey, they would have “done something”, right?

Holding the line against insulting proposals is doing something. Beyond that, anything is speculation. None of us really know the details, I am, however, certain that an agreement as malodorous as the United one could be achieved rather quickly if you want to do something.

I’ll see that, and raise you SJs schedule. Most of this MEC is dug in like an Alabama tick on the Flight Pay Loss teat.

chrisreedrules 10-31-2022 02:45 PM

Thank you ALPA and thank you Delta pilots. Made me proud to see these numbers.

You're gonna have to prove that one sport. If they do fly 3 weeks per month every month, then l will apologize. They would be the first in my entire time here to have them do so.
