When the negotiating stalls who is on the phone with Ed? Didn't what's his name single handedly get us TA2? It matters, but MEMRAT matters more. How many black shirts can I put you down for?

I bet the PM changes again at some point. Leadership matters. The leader we just elected was afraid of a strike vote.

Another tempest in a teapot. Have you guys all forgotten about Memory Rat? Nothing is over until we say its over! What happened when Mike Donatelli went all in for TA-1? The wisdom of the masses prevailed and that turd was flushed. In the connected high information world of the interwebs the MEC Chair is more like an Admin Officer than a CO. The days of uninformed Pilots blindly following Union recommendations are history. Yes he is in a "Leadership" position but his real power is minimal. Look what happened to the UAL MEC guy after their MEC passed and started to push the Turd Tumi TA, a one way ticket to Palookaville - his dreams of National Office shattered. Sell out your constituents and that is what happens.

In the immortal words of Kevin Bacon (one of Earths mightiest Heroes) - All is Well.

Bonus - Whats the other Animal House quote weaved into this post?

Scoop - Just my 2 cents

I’m not going to say anything one way or the other on the politics on the vote today. What I will say is our goal is to send an agreement out for MEMRAT that the pilots would ratify. The last thing we want, is another TA1 moment.

Too easy, Scoop.
It was NOT, in fact, over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Back handed deals and jobs made.

I hear Cowieson and crew are coming back. Amazing how these guys keep finding alpa jobs. The line is beneath them.

Reps need to be recalled over this.

Who initiates a recall and how does that process start? Totally agree. Unacceptable.

Any active member in good standing can. you can only submit a recall request for your own reps, but if you’d like to do so all you have to do is email your reps and say you’d like a resolution for their recall placed on the agenda for the next meeting. After it’s added to the agenda, at the actual meeting there needs to be a maker and a second, and it’s voted on there. If it passes at the LEC meeting, it will then go to a council wide electronic ballot. You can bring up to 3 proxies to the LEC meeting.

Close votes require compromise and coalitions to move forward.

This was as even a split as could be possible. The opposite of a “mandate”.

Knowing nothing about either candidate, I’d say this was a vote for no radical action, and frequent consultations with the LECs.

(The vast majority of the membership probably sees the MEC chair as interchangeable anyway. Rightly or wrongly).
