Meanwhile, I have been trying to drop the same block of days using IVD and coverage was still too low and it was denied.

If the employee no longer needed FMLA, that pilot should have been placed back on original schedule (trip was in open time) not assigned a premium pay trip. I believe this is abusing the system for personal gain at the detriment of fellow pilots. Am I wrong here?
That sounds like a good one for the new MEC chair to get his feet wet on.

Don't hold your breath though.

Again, you don’t have the facts. She has a family member that requires round the clock care and care givers aren’t available 24/7. Especially holidays. Sorry her misfortunes are an inconvenience for you. You don’t know everyone’s story so perhaps you can assume FMLA was granted by the company for a legitimate reason.

The way you make it sound, she’s out exchanging “favors” to CS and the CPO so she can get a schedule better than yours and her schedule is blocked in order to cover it all up.

OR, she has legitimate reasons for FMLA and she knows how to work the PCS’s.

What’s more likely?

I actually encourage you all with the concerns to raise it to your LEC. 100% no malice will be found.

Does FMLA meet the same green slip requirements as sick leave use…meaning it puts you to the bottom of the list as if you’d hadn’t applied sick to your schedule?

The problem with schedule blocks is the masses are left to trust everything is contractual and policies are being applied uniformly across the seniority list. Don’t hate the player trying to play the game with restricted access to information.

No dog in this fight but just to be clear which game are we hating again? The drop FMLA over Christmas then un-FMLA yourself and greenslip game? I’ll admit there might be some that hate that game. The poor schmuck who had to fly her trip over Christmas for one……

EDIT: I don’t mean to sound uncaring and I hope her family is ok and all, I’m just saying I get the angst over it.

No, her family is not okay, and they never will be until they pass at some point.
The angst and hate over this individual’s very real and legitimate situation is ridiculous. why don’t you just reach out to her and ask her directly? You know her name, you can e-mail her or look her up on FB.

It sure is nice of you to so vehemently go to bat for her.

Nope, you aren’t wrong one single bit. That is absolute BS!

Can you explain to us, why it’s ok to drop a trip for FMLA and then get a GS over those same days? What is so virtuous about her situation? I’m very sorry she has a battle at home with the health of family, I’m guessing, but there is nothing you can say to defend dropping and picking up a GS over those same days while saying her FMLA obligation required that.

this manipulation is messed up. It sours the company to FMLA and will ultimately make it harder for the rest of us to use legitimately

can we pass a resolution in Lec meeting to stop the blocked schedule ability?

imo this fmla needs immediate review.

I am so annoyed that one can get premium pay in the footprint of it is pure abuse.

FMLA is a a hard no fly day, and no credit. Same as APD and MLOA. She can’t pickup a GS on an FMLA day. If FMLA doesn’t encompass the entire footprint and she is able to pickup a GS within that footprint, she’d still need to pick up credit towards the trigger elsewhere. In her case I know she uses FMLA on days when a caregiver isn't available and she’s unable to drop or swap out of them due to res coverage.
