It’s not a concession, it’s a win.
Not until August 1st.

They have always been able to reroute you outside 14 hours. Absolutely nothing has changed in that regard. Except that you will always, 100% of the time, get paid. And not 3-6 months later only because you ACE‘d it.

OBTW, in the new contract, reroutes are expected to decline precipitously.

Better vote no so we get reroute improvements faster?

Now, who doesn’t want to hear facts? BTW, did we get any additional facts on silver slip soak time and when they are designated 2x?

Tell me again why I shouldn’t disregard expectations.

Just be honest about it.

The 23 L.4 Note is probably one of the most mis-understood parts of the PWA. I've heard no less than 5-6 variations on how it "works" from people recently, none of whom were correct. Toss in an additional 2-3 versions of how reroute "works" that couldn't even be classified as variations because they were so far off, and you've got a pretty good indication on how clear 23 L.4 is currently.

To be clear, I'm not casting anything at anyone...it's poorly worded, been subject to modifications and grievance settlements, and is absolutely an opaque process that requires ALPA to decipher a proper pay treatment and even when it's paid, it's not done under the easy to understand line on the timecard marked "reroute" but with an arcane code you have to look up.

One thing that the current 23 L.4 note is not is "they can't reroute you prior to 14 hours". Take the rerouted segment, build it into a rotation. Be sure to include any report time, any DH time and any turnaround time to get to where it starts, and very often that number is larger than 14 hours, because "14 hours to report of such rotation" is what 23 L.4 Note says, not to the start of the reroute leg.

If they can reroute you into ONE leg that cannot be built into a rotation that way, you do it now FOR FREE. The bonus? What ever rerouted legs they can dream up that attaches to that thing, however far into the future it is, you also have to do...but at least you get a premium for it, assuming they pay it correctly.

By the way, under the current system, if it's a last minute reroute, chances are you're doing 2-3 rerouted legs, even through an overnight, for free, no premium pay due.

You haven't so far, why start now. You totally discount them. Enjoy your reroutes this summer.
