Delta isn’t the military. I’ll happily take the phone call from prostans if it even came to that |

I get back in the jetway with my hat on and the captain sarcastically says, “nice hat, is that authorized in the FOM?”
We need more uniform options, specifically outerwear. Pouring rain? How professional is a soaking wet admiral’s coat that smells like a wet dog? I carry (and use) a very light/thin Northface rain jacket for these situations. -20F? How professional is a pilot who literally can’t breathe and has to urgently rush through a walk-around? Bottom line, it’s often a safety issue, and I’m not afraid to point that out to supervision if questioned. As a global airline, we need a number of uniform options, especially since we can be in scenarios such as YUL one night and BOG the next… in January. |

This thread has partly renewed my faith in humanity while also raising my opinion of the average Delta pilot.
|
The rampers up north got some nice gear a couple years ago. I'd like one of those even if it says FLT OPS down the sleeve.
|
Neidermeyer, would you just ****! Doubling down on the douchbaggery about the uniform and the FOM. Lot's of things in the FOM get ignored daily. If you have read anything other than company material, closed your eyes for a quick catnap, spoken about anything other than checklist or pertinent to flight below 10,000, used a foreign language such as "gracias" in the cockpit, not turned your phone off until the cabin door is closed, etc, you too are guilty. And if you say you haven't, you're full of it. I personally don't own a North Face jacket other than the one's I got at the market in Beijing 20+ years ago because I'm too cheap. That may change though. I may bid 330A in Seattle and buy a North Face to strut around in just for you. Better yet, every Delta pilot transiting SEA should make sure to have a non approved jacket and have their hats riding on the suitcase just for you.

Bottom line to all of you for whatever reason keep arguing with me about jackets - who is right and who is wrong? End of story. If you feel the need to not follow FOM guidance that’s on you, but please stop encouraging new hires to go out and buy North Face jackets cuz they going to end flying with captains that are not ok with that - present company included.

God forbid just find one publicly available and put a widget on it. |

I haven't seen anyone wearing a different uniform, have you? Anybody? Probably an ATL thing but are they out in the operation? |

Do Testers come before or after the Tiger Team?

Ok, but what kind of input do they have? Design or redesign input? Materials, button style and placement? Has anything changed since they first started?

I totally understand taking some time to get that kind of feedback, and it taking half a year or more to get that right, tested, second round of feedback, etc. What is unbelievable is the second tier changes, the actual functional ones like an outer jacket to solve the "Northface" problem, not being ready for this winter. Unsat. It's like the office responsible can only handle one thing at a time. |
Not that I will ever wear the stupid hat again - but PB did say there would be a new "commuter friendly" hat. Has anyone seen a prototype of said hat?

I know they made a few changes to the jackets based on feedback and testers already. They moved the "ghost" buttons on the double breasted off the nipples, changed the slit in the back, and the liner to include some internal pockets at least. I'm sure there are many others, but have no idea who to ask other than a shotgun question on skynet.

I couldn’t see any color difference, at least not in crew outfitters lighting. I don’t think anyone will know, unless yours are pleated as I did not see that as an option. |

Did a Uniform fitting today between block in and commute flight. Took 10 minutes. The double breasted actually wears/feels almost like a single breasted. Our current jackets you bottom 3 buttons. New one you just do the bottom 2 (which was weird putting on at first) and that top one is not used. I was pleasantly surprised.

Testers are not in charge of the program, ATL office dwellers are. Give a MSP 320 FO control of the outer garment and we'd have a solution by the end of the week.
I am sure you can fix it fast |

Hi everyone,
New hire here. I am wondering what do you guys use for rain coats or overcoats. New hires were not given jackets because the new vendor will have those in November. Meanwhile I need to figure out what to wear as some of the overnights are in JAC . Looking at the weather forecast the mornings will be in the lower 40s , so no ideal for shirts. Any suggestions? Tnx For the walk-arounds during fall I have a zip up black fleece. |

Remember … the walk around is the captains responsibility !
|
All this talk about "coats" and "hats" for the walk around only shows that some of your aren't DTW or MSP based. Jeeshe... acting like it's cold out there in the winter!

During the winter I carry a "standard" black zip up jacket from Columbia for layovers as well as the double breasted blazer. Once we're at the aircraft, if the conditions are such that I don't think the blazer is going to cut it for the walk around, I announce loud enough for the CVR that I'm going with "non standard outerwear for the walk around in the interest of comfort and safety" as I pull my layover jacket from my bag. Never once have I gotten push back from a CA or LCA. Usually the response is just a chuckle or a "do what you gotta do!"

I went to my fitting a few days ago. Looked like a flurry of activity in the ATL crew fitters area so I assumed it was going to be awhile. Nope, they saw me at my appointment time and I was done (fitted, measured, and checked out) within 15 minutes. They were very nice and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at the efficient experience.
