No, JB, with respect, it's not. You will never convince me 18 years later you are in a Dead Zone. Despite what you may think, you have my genuine sympathies for the absolute kick in the nuts of, amonth other things, losing the pension. It must have genuinely sucked. As I've said to you before, I cannot imagine what that was like for any of you. But it's been eighteen years, man. There is no credible definition of a "Dead Zone" where you haven't had time to make up for/adjust to the loss/theft of the pension. Especially considering you have had 5 additional years of earnings at the tippy top of the scale. Again, I'm not saying you didn't get screwed or that it's fair or just, just that all the actual DZers are gone already.
Noting trolling for personal amusement is not a personal attack.
I shared about my personal experience as a cautionary tale to try to help others. Nick then tries to use that to flame and bait with playground taunts. Just as he has done with unsolicited DM's to me. I'll let the readers judge for themselves.

Just to point out (again) for any lurkers…. It’s been 18+ years since the pension was stolen. 18 years. Did that suck hard? You bet. A genuine kick in the nuts to get pennies on the dollar in a PBGC. But 100% of the true deadzoners are retired. Furthermore, don’t forget that guys who continue to whine about it were also given 5 extra years to earn from what they would have gotten when that pension was terminated. And, they are all now either WB Captains, or super-senior NB Captains who wanted a check for $250,000-400,000+ on their way out the door, when the true DZers who have all retired get nothing. And they act like it wouldn’t have costed “junior” a thing. It’s delusional.

Bond won the lottery. The VEOP was an absolute windfall for his demographic. His problem was that it didn’t hammer you and I specifically for his gain. He had been promised that he would get his at the point that he became senior. The Cadillac of the month club was the dream that he was entitled to, but his ultimate issue is identity.
I was neutral during initial negotiations regarding the minimum balance plan, however after the VEOP I was a hard no. You won the lottery Bond and Nick, you just didn’t get to [hose] MOD EDIT me in the process. That’s your issue… the days of senior guys shafting the junior are gone. I’m going to leave Delta better than I found it.

The nebulus definition of a deadzoner exploited again. Assuming someone making the claim is 63, they were 45 when the pension went away. If they were hired early (back then) at 30 years old then they had 15 years vested in the pension and a decent PBGC amount relative to those that were later. The only way to maximize the PBGC is to delay it. Never mind the note, claim, DC etc. Many never had a pension or weren't in the higher buckets. This dead zoner would be in thier 33rd year at Delta and be currently elegible for 35 years. 35 years at a major when they were hired would have meant hired at 25 years old when they were a new hire. That's a great career. At 65 having the 20 years of DC plus the higher PBGC means they will retire well. There is no doubt. For every year less vested in the pension means they weren't here as long and affected less. Like has been said numerous times, they have all retired. If they didn't take the VEOP they were at least offered a chance to retire with pay.

These juniors will never get it. They will never appreciate what us DZers did for them. I’m a post-2014 hire deadzoner. I spent the first decade of my career hoping to get the pension back. Now we are paying for these juniors uniforms and hotels. Training hotels came on the backs of us. They are lucky I didn’t furlough them instead of getting a reduction in the green slip trigger. They could at least thank me when walking into my cockpit. They don’t care, they are looking at their IPads (we also provided) and checking their big probation pay slips. They make more than I did on year 2 pay! Enjoy your free crew meal, junior. I guess no waiting in the Dunkin’ line for these kids.
