Whenever there’s a pile on upon someone who tried, and failed at something (be it noble or nefarious), I’m reminded of T Roosevelt’s speech
“The Man in the Arena”.
I’ve never spoken before a Congressional panel. (I damn near begged to pre Part 117 rest rules)

That speech was about striving for achievement in life without fearing failure or criticism. Nowhere did he mention striving to move goal posts at the last minute to benefit yourself at the expense of others.

I will never be a able to read “the man in the arena” without thinking of Delta Dave, a pilot apparently on disability, making an idiot it out of himself with his highly embarrassing attempt to flex on the FAA administrator during a Congressional hearing. In uniform, no less. Truly a hero of our time.

- Gave away scope that gave rise to the decades-long age of the RJ.
- Had 4 contract cycles to regain pay/retirement lost in bankruptcy, yet still think it’s everyone else’s problem to fix for them now.
- Many have spent years as widebody Captains making $500K+ /year but wanted the rest of us to stagnate so they could have a couple more years.
- They tie their entire identity to being a Delta pilot/Captain and make it their whole personality.

“Jumpseating to work today. The FO is a 24 yo on his OE. One year at Republic. One year at Allegiant. Now at Delta. To his credit, he flew the A320 at Allegiant and is checking out on the same airplane at Delta. I did not ask TT. He did mention he left Republic when he got his 1500 hours and ATP.
I’m editing this post to include the purpose of my post. This is an example of the experience gap created by forcing experienced pilots to retire at age 65 while replacing them with new ATPs.
Raising the age allows experienced pilots two more years to mentor and train new pilots being hired and upgrading at an unprecedented rate while the pipeline gets replenished”
The irony in her post is astonishing. She edited the post as the was dishing out age discrimination, the same thing she is supposedly fighting against.
Im sure she was hired with 0 121 time.

To many here at DAL, if it didn't happen on our property, it doesn't count. Such an odd view of looking at things. Nevermind the fact that we still have lots of 30-64 year olds out there mentoring our new FOs.
