Subjectively I think people's opinions on him are driven primarily by where they were hired, where they are based, and more recently, who they have flown with that likes grinding axes. Objectively he helped bring the pilot group and Delta as a whole to where we are now. If that makes him a bad guy...
Curly was the only ER captain I ever saw do a walk around on a 3 man crew. Additionally, he bought the beer on layovers. He came across way different (and deservedly so) online than in person (unless you really got him spooled up). Having tangled with him online but also having flown with him, I give him the benefit of the doubt and say that I didn’t always agree with him but he was a good guy.

If this guy can have access to the seniority list, why can't my pass riders have access to Travelnet?

The crazy thing is any regional with access to deltanet (skywest, republic, endeavor) can see everything as well. All of our names, dates of birth, our entire line bid awards, everything. I used to look at it when I was at my regional awaiting my class date at Delta to get a feel of the different trips and fleets. They definitely should not have access to this in my opinion.

And this isn't just pilots it's literally every employee of those companies.

My guess is there is some control on it as the company does not offer it publicly and it's only available to those with a valid Deltanet login and permissions to access the Flight Operations tab.
This is a fair point. I think the widgetseniority page is fanstastic and reference it (probably too) often.

However I was surprised that before I even had an employee number at Delta years ago, that I could create a free newhire account "trial" and view the entire seniorty list, names and ages (retirement dates), BES and employee number. Anybody on the internet could/can view the seniority list via the site. It wouldn't bother me at all, and I would prefer, that the name information on the site is scrubbed. This would change nothing about the functionality of the site.

That’s my point, though. Zero third parties tunnel into the servers, afaik. HR uses some subcontractors, but that’s yet another category of thing. And they have robust certifications and security, like Ping. That’s not how Curly gets his data.

Totally agree.

I love this company, but I have to agree: the travelnet booking system needs a major overhaul.

Pass riders being unable to book themselves (and me violating company rules if I share a password login) seems antiquated.

A gate agent helped my parents a while back. Couldn’t get them to where they were going, could get them into another airport 30 mins away from where they were going.

I was flying. Gate agent hooked them up on a non rev listing. I get a call from the CPO asking why I listed my parents on flights to multiple cities close by.

When I returned that call and had the lady check what happened, she apologized and gave me some “that’s how the Delta family looks out for one another” rant. Then tells me I should fill out a recognition form for the agent.

I didn’t even know any of this happened until the lady called me, then I had to check with my parents to find out the story. This then led me to my closing line of that call. “Well I don’t have anything else for you other than you should find a better way to spend your day than doing this kind of stuff.”

So yeah, travelnet needs a little buff to bring it up to the year 2005.

Well, I've never filled out the semi-annual Delta survey.

Maybe this would be an approriate (non punitative if not well received) comment.

OTOH, I just buy tickets for my folks. Rarely on Delta ($$$). Honestly, that's probably how Delta prefers it.
