The Captain would decide seat positions. You are correct that having a designated relief pilot eliminated a lot of the trip swapping BS.
By the way Captains should allocate landings based on currancy. Many Captains take a landing every trip.
I like the captains discretion because then I can give away all the legs and be the reserve slug going to the sim every 90 days as a captain. Should, not shall? I say cage fight it out, the captain is not responsible for managing the training budget.

Can we please get Atlanta to stop playing that AWFUL 90s elevator smooth jazz in the terminal? I would prefer literally anything, or no music at all. The incessant smooth SAX drives me insane. They've been on the same playlist since I was a child.

I'm surprised the culture here is not one where the CA reaches out in advance to divvy up rest so you don't all show up at midnight wondering how it will go. A few guys do it, but it should just be standard(as much as feasible).

You were offered a job at Delta and turned it down. Give it a rest.

part of what has kept me from going WB is potentially being forced into a rest break I don’t want/can’t sleep on
After talking with some of our silver hair silver slip specialists who drop 100% of their schedule and then take all the silver slips…hard pass.

I'd like to see a PD counter. So #1 gets their first PD, but not their second PD before junior gets their first PD. That would stop a lot of the SS hogging.

Did you know Atlanta, Georgia is in the eastern time zone? Andre says hello.

No. If one is senior enough to clear sched with PD's I don't want that encumbered by a counter. You all knew we were a seniority system when you came to the industry. I have my seniority and I want to exercise it. I had to wait for it. Just like you should. Tough beans.

No counter for PD's.
