We are too. We never get to see our ask, that way we can’t be triggered.

The company has always been willing to negotiate exceptions. If pilots want one bring it up at a LEC meeting or email your reps.

just finished the survey. Very comprehensive and well done.

And yes, I wrote that Lulu needs to be a univorm vendor.

Hear me out on this one: Eliminate IAWC.

a. they never realistically get to that step anyway
b. just make IA = IAWC

If they need to skip coverage and go IA, then it's available to everyone. If there's a rotation on your line or not, you're eligible.

Should go a long way to helping eliminate shenanigans.

Yep. Finally someone with common sense and smarts . Remember the campaign many years ago , “One level of safety” ? They left out the “One level of pay and benefits” LOL . Solidarity massively increases bargaining power. 🤷‍♂️

Here is one that doesn't currently impact me, but a UAL buddy brought up. Why don't we bid for FO and "bunkie" positions? Seems like it would make more sense to know your rest break ahead of time. It could also have an added bonus of saving some heartache for those middle seniority FO's who think they're about to get bought off a trip, only to have one of the number 1-3 guys swap into it at the last minute lol.

Pros and cons to both systems. If we have a dedicated IRO bid then that FO is always going to sim for bounces. Might work out for some, but I enjoy being able to still fly legs and sit relief depending on the day.

Definitely understand the appeal to knowing the breaks, but our informal system works out great in my view.

We once did it that way at Delta. You bid for either the flying or relief seat. It was not contractual but company policy. A pilot filed a grievance for being moved to the RP position to allow the RP to maintain currency. Shortly after a FOM change came out eliminating the RP position and stating everyone was a FO. The Captain would decide seat positions. You are correct that having a designated relief pilot eliminated a lot of the trip swapping BS.
By the way Captains should allocate landings based on currancy. Many Captains take a landing every trip.

I would like to see GS trigger eliminated (like many other airlines), and I like the IRO way United bids long haul.
part of what has kept me from going WB is potentially being forced into a rest break I don’t want/can’t sleep on

It's very easy now to check currencies before the trip starts. Often times I'll text the day of (assuming no one has swapped/dropped or banged out sick ) to see what their preferences are. I never got the "captain flies first leg" thing here. If my FO's need a lading for currency, one is flying out, one is flying back. No skin off my back. We do have many here, captains, that insist on flying the first leg over currency be danged. Never understood that mentality here.
