Some boot lickers are so far gone they’d rather get angry at the neck next to them that has slightly less pressure on it, than the boot itself.

The farmers didn't cause this problem, that's correct.

But let's not act they are doing it for the greater good of holding the company accountable.

this is about principle. that #1 guy in my category who has had 7 23m7 trips this month is doing nothing wrong. its a contract loophole that is in delta's best interest to close.

I really wasn’t tearing down other members. I said, I don’t blame those joining in the free-for-all. I’m just saying that I see both sides of it. And that doesn’t make me a Kool-Aid drinker or a company man. I just know what it takes to run a company and so I see all sides. I agree with one of your points, though; if I was to join in the free-for-all, it really would be just to get the company to solve it. And no, I wouldn’t turn down the extra pay either. Like you said, maybe that’s what pushed them to start coverage earlier and also to rush the updates to Arcos.

Of course they aren’t. They’re taking maximum advantage of a situation they just happen to find themselves in, as would 90% of the people on the list. It’s still a company problem to solve.

Also realize this is in fact harming other pilots.

Yes, they are using the situation to their advantage like they are allowed. But there are consequences for other pilots.

I'm 100% in agreement that the company was in the wrong up to the moment when the farmers started abusing 23M7. Following this thread ive seen some say this gives us leverage. I have yet to see how. If you can legit explain to me how we have the upper hand and how this works in our favor in the long run, I'm all ears.

And by the way, I'm not siding with the company. I'm seeing this causing anger, frustration and division amongst pilots. Plenty feel like they're being harmed. And even if you manage to change my mind and have me agree with you, that still doesn't negate the fact that the union has a messaging problem because most pilots see the actions of a greedy few harming the many.

of course not that wasn't my intent they're doing what we are all doing...trying to maximize pay and minimize days worked. thats the game. we all want that.

what can the company do to fix this?

1. how about hire more pilots -> better reserve coverage. helps all of us

2. VAS? i haven't seen that used -> helps all of us.

3. let guys volunteer for more than 6 SC's -> helpful for local reserve guys

4. cover trips in open time earlier -> helps commuters

5. offer more SLV slips when coverage looks tight -> helps everyone

stop throwing spears at the pilots. the company has tools to fix this...we all want jets to go out on time. this is their problem. we were all hired not to help delta smooth out trip coverage, but to fly airplanes.

you absolutely were tearing down other members. and i quote:

"There will always be people strictly out for themselves. While we have to hold the company to the contract, there’s also the fact that they are trying to run a business; of course, most of these “smart” farmers have no idea what that entails. It’s unfortunate that a few ruin things for the many. And now it’s just a free for all because why not join instead of watching every pilot Junior to you take home 23m7 in addition to piggybacking by getting an inverse assignment. I get why people are hoping the crowd, it’s just unfortunate that it’s screwing our own brothers."

You need to reread your original post.

OK. So I take back what I said about not tearing down other pilots. There are a few that I probably am, much in the same way I would tear down anybody making deals with scheduling. I do understand one is worse and that farming is well within the PWA.They’re absolutely are people who are only out for themselves, so yeah, don’t hate the player, hate the game. I’m not mad at them at all. I’m just calling it like I see it. If you feel that’s tearing them down, so be it. But as I said, I certainly don’t begrudge those joining in after seeing the free for all that’s happening. But you do you.
