Wait, didn't the company a few months back not pay out the extra reroute pay because they said they were in compliance with the sick automation? Isn't this them essentially admitting that it is in fact not complete?
Or am I thinking of something completely different?

Nevermind looks like it was with reroute automation.

Yep, it was automatically putting open legs from rerouted pilots into open time. Pretty amazing the company can't do that, it sounds so simple.

Individual schedulers probably don’t care much, but the managers who have pressure regarding costs and have to answer for their departments effect on the bottom line do. They may eventually give marching orders to the grunts in CS that they have to start trying to do things cheaper (follow the coverage ladder).
I would’ve liked to see some guardrails on QS as well, like only can be used if within 4 hours of report or something similar. Perhaps we can tinker with it in the future once we have the data of how it is used.

If the programming change to prevent CS from skipping to QS/IA without finishing the current step they are in is actually implemented properly, this should end the farming for pretty much anyone other than the most senior pilots. At least until the way 23M7 is distributed is (hopefully) changed in C2026. A lot of the farming right now is being done by pilots who are hoping CS decides to skip to IA mid step (usually WS or OOBWS) and being in the right spot on the list when they decide to do that. If they are skipping a step entirely you have to be VERY senior to have any chance at a 23M7 in most cases.

All they have to do is plug in the senior guy first up on the next coverage step so WS, OBWS, GS, and OBGS slips will be a requirement for the anglers (and everyone else) then. That will shut down coverage early, award senior a 23M&7, and push the QS scramble launch button. This will be the fastest way to cover during the "little hot" summer of 2026. Get ready for the same phone blasting with the countdown music in the background. If there is multiple trips put out in the same QS good luck evaluating from your 5 inch touch screen. Ain't gonna be no GSs, ever, with this available during IROPS.
