Now you are mixing trip coverage and methods of compensation. SS is trip coverage, PB days are compensation for trip coverage. RES get pay + PB (compensation) for a GS, QS, IA (trip coverage). Line gets pay and credit plus pay (compensation) for GS, QS, IA (trip coverage). GS, QS, IA are all premium steps of trip coverage that are compensated differently based on status line vs reserve. SS for line only is a discriminatory step of trip coverage, PB for reserves is a different method of compensation for steps of trip coverage also available to line.
The whole point of SS was to get lineholders to take trips before reserves could get GS with PB days. With the recent devaluation of PB days it is reasonable to expect SS for reserves.

Look, I understand the difference. I’ve flown plenty of SS and plenty of GS on res to get PB days.

As long as the trip gets covered, the company doesn’t care. If they care at all, it is probably biased towards spreading the wealth around, vice concentrating it. I would expect ‘one per PCS run’ to be a cost neutral change.

I don't think you're confused, I just don't get why this premium slip would pay different from every single other premium slip we have. That's not semantics, that's a break from precedent. I too do plenty of both, but I'm mostly a line holder these days. Like your opinion won't change, mine won't change on the fact that not allowing reserves in on SS, makes them a concession.
I'm on board with the rest of your wishes for SS, if they're going to stick around. I'd be just as happy if they went away and they just identified certain trips as a GS to be awarded further out. Of course they'll never do this because then they'd have to give out PB days.

I assume in 2 more days we will know if we are going the short or long way. It’s been quiet for sure this past couple of days…
My guess, the way they’ve been running OT last week (being proactive), sounds like we are going the long way and they are trying to limit the use of 23m7. I’ve been getting calls for IBWS two days in advanced. Heck, I’ve even got calls for GS last couple of days too.

It actually may be cost beneficial for the company to level SS. Under the current system, the most senior (highest pay scale) grab the majority. Leveling could decrease the amount paid as lower pay scale pilots would have easier access.
