forgot to bid 05-21-2012 09:43 AM

I'm fine with 4/8.5/3/3.

If we're paying by the duty hour.

And I'm fine with giving up things in exchange for a promise of a gain... as long as that promise is put in writing with triggers if it doesn't happen.

Will still wait for TA but in the meantime:

Seriously man, any chance of a pay rate chart with these numbers? You are the king making these things :D

Wow, because mainline pilots, (and I are one), have never killed customers with, for example, crappy checklist discipline resulting in a t/o attempt with no flaps? Glass houses, sir. Directed to nwa, not you dashdriver.

Excuse me. Please explain!

Context:

US Regional Airline Association (RAA) to stage its annual convention this week in Minneapolis
RAA 2012: Regional airlines poised for massive fleet renewal

...Both Bombardier and Embraer have publicly predicted that these beleaguered US regional airlines are poised to buy hundreds of new aircraft. Embraer confirms it is in talks with at least five US regional airlines on deals for a total of more than 400 aircraft this year.

Indeed, both airframers are counting on the US orders this year, as regional aircraft sales are expected to decline elsewhere in the world. If the orders are consummated, they promise to begin a fundamental reshaping of the US regional airline sector, with the increasingly uneconomical 50-seaters exchanged via scope clause relief for 70-80-seaters...

ALPA is not suicidal.

There is a possibility we are overlooking --

The MEC is going to send this out with no recommendation.
Their vote was simply to allow the line pilots a chance to vote.

They expect us to turn this thing down. Overwhelmingly.

That would be a plausible explanation for them passing this thing.
Maybe even a smart thing to do. We'll know later today.

Check, you could be onto something. I think we'll be able to see their intentions by whether we get the "hard sell" or not. So far, the update posted on the other thread reads to me like, "Love it or hate it, this is what we got. We are disappointed too, and understand why you would vote it down." Of course, the real political wordsmithing seems to happen at the MEC level, not the local councils. Let's see what their spin shows tonight.

Council 48,
Today, the Delta MEC approved the TA. This means that all pilots will have an opportunity to review and study the proposal that our negotiators obtained over the last eight weeks. Our negotiators have been in continuous negotiations over many issues, but this TA addresses the two biggest concerns from the survey: scope and pay.

You will receive the full contract as well as informational bulletins on all sections. Please read them carefully and gather the data you need to make an informed decision. Council 48 reps will be present to answer questions in the lounge (schedule to be announced).

Your council reps voted to bring the TA to the pilots. If your reps did not vote, you would not have control of your decision path, as the TA would be voided.

Specifically to Council 48, the contract directs 85 hours. No more 75/85 debate.

We are awaiting and looking forward to your TA-related questions. "

Are you kidding? Think about it. They send us a TA they don't like? ALPA is about control; taking and maintaining control, not giving it up. What you are suggesting would be an act of cowardice.
