Oh yeah. He definitely wanted to meet her. Check out the last chapter of my first book. He's a guy you'd love to have over to your house for a BBQ....but you'd want to keep him away from your wife (and your daughter).:D
Speaking of hammering, keep hammering our reps out here in LAX that think all these new 717's are going to be the saving grace for this base. Scope (Alaska primarily) will be the saving grace of this base, make no mistakes. I think these "partnerships" we have out west are a tester to what we as a group will tolerate. But what the he11 do I know. BD |

Are they really saying that? I would think the 717's would probably be based in ATL and DTW mainly. I agree with you, why would the company compete with Alaska in LAX (and SEA too) when they don't have to........

Because the 717 (and some Next Gen Rj's in all fairness) might be the right size to yank our revenue off Alaska and fly it ourselves.

Denny,
I'm not starting that rumor. I'm just saying, to compete we have to have the right sized aircraft to capture and maximize revenue flows. Those airplanes will be flown by Delta pilots. The 717 (and to some extent the damned 76 seaters) are the right size. Think about what we are allowed to put on Alaska's airplanes ... those numbers correlate with our new fleet kinda nicely 'eh? It probably means more in New York, but I'd sure like to see some 717's out west. Management is happy ceding revenue if they can't fly it and make a buck. Having a mainline fleet that does not have many options below 160 seats is a problem. However, when we have the right tool for the job and can make a buck, that is what management would prefer to do. Alaska is not "free." When our passengers get on their airplanes that is lost revenue for us. |

(I know we don't collude 'cause that's illegal.) I do hope this "wishful thinking" (based on good judgment) comes to fruition. Different subject, do you have any idea what the price of oil needs to be at to make the 50 seaters viable again? Denny |
