I know this is an extreme example, but I'm just trying to make sure I understand this new rule.

If said reserve pilot is at 52+44, could he be assigned a trip that would cause him to exceed "his" guarantee? Or is done?

Yes, he could be assigned a trip until he reaches his guarantee.

Also, if a reserve has no known absences for the month then in your example he would be subject to 75+30. So if he is at 75+29, can he be assigned a trip that would take him to 92+30?

Yes, he could be assigned a single trip that took him over his reserve guarantee up to ALV+15, or in this case a trip worth 17+01. All normal reserve assigment criteria still have to be met (days of availability, RAW, etc). In your example the pilot has 18 days on call and 12 or 13 X days (30 or 31 day month). To get to the 92+30 he would have to be paid and credited with a daily average of 5+08 for each of his 18 on call days. He would also be subject to the ADG calculation of 4+30 for each rotation and the Reserve Lookback Guarantee of 5+15 per day.

Thank you for the explanations.

And if they use them all... 6/13 ought to be a blast!

Is it just me or would the next logical iteration of the reserve change be to make trips completely equal (ADG gets it a lot closer than current book) and to limit res pilots to ALV +7.5 (which would be the LCW max)?

I hope to see that as a possibility either when the FTDT change negotiations ensue/next merger/ Sect. 6...

Thoughts?

You read my mind. I figured the adequate quid would be ALV+7.5 since that is the max a line holder could get assigned in a month. What you ask though requires negotiating capital from the TA. It would cost something to get that 7.5hrs per reserve back.

Shouldn't cost anything to make trips equal credit for lineholders and reserves, instead of reserves getting short changed. Didnt see it in the Ta. Maybe I missed it, I dunno.

Just heard word from my MX buddy in SFO that a 777 Capt's daughter got busted with 10lbs of weed wrapped in aluminum foil on a non rev flight from SFO-ATL. Any word?
