I'm amazed you can decipher what he's talking about. Not that there is a point in there anywhere.

You have to read with your glasses on that filter out excitement. You know to use those glasses when their "position" (717A??) is an airplane that hasn't been delivered yet.

Ohh boy. HOA is only $1800/month.

Some people can't take a joke, and keep grudges forever. Move on son, move on. As far as the upgrade goes, you either can hold the position or not, and you can either fly it or not. If I get an upgrade and move to NY, and I pass, I'll make a lot more than now and I'll enjoy it. You can continue to be a cranky jerk if you want to, I don't care.

I had hoped that this contract would cover hotel costs for new hires in initial flight training, but I don't think it was addressed. It was one of my comments in the contract survey. They're cash-strapped as it is, and just because we had to do it doesn't make it right, or not worth changing, and yes I would be willing to give something up for that.
I'd hoped for it too, even my last regional airline payed for single occupancy hotel rooms for us throughout the whole training process. I had figured Delta would do the same. I think it's just one of those issues that has never been addressed and a lot of the people I fly with don't even know about it.

Also I'm throwing some money on a MCO base for the 717. How senior will it go?

2500-5000 for A's, 7500-10000 for B's. All 5 day trips. Max overnight 12 hours. Some people really love Mickey.

I passed through MCO a couple weeks ago- Why isn't that a 767 base?? The amount of airplanes we have passing through there would easily cross that "credit threshold" that planning figured.

Plus goodness knows how senior that would go...

I remember being a new hire. As a former mil guy, everything was different. I didn't know crashpads existed, Takeoff data calculations are done backwards from the AF, V1 cuts and the memorized litany was foreign, etc.

My first DAL paycheck was about $600. I remember commenting that it wasn't enough for a fun weekend, forget living on it.

It would be nice if DAL helped the newhires out with living expenses, even if it was just to help find and fund a clean crashpad. IMO, abysmally low 1st year pay was DALs way of having newhires pay for their training. I think it is higher now than it was then. That is something.

717 bases will be ATL and NYC, nothing else.

Well said.

We should help out the newhires and here's to hoping there will be some soon. I guess the first hint should come with the August AE. If there are significantly more openings than displacements, we'll see hiring. Otherwise same ol same ol.

BTW I'm also hoping for a DFW 717 (or MD90) base.

Just saw something from crew planning saying initially ATL and/or DTW--no mention of NYC
