I sent an email to the alpa scheduling folks a few days ago. Tonight they called me with a one hour report time on short call. Heck, sometimes it takes and hour just for the employee bus!!!! Is laughing at the scheduler a bad thing??
What generally has happened is they have a trip for many hours that they are trying to cover via WS or a Out-of-Base WS and when they pull a trigger on a reserve, its generally on very short notice. |

Hey guys what is up with this KLOA bid that was just posted? Is this something that has always been around and I never noticed it?
Also anyone have a copy of the new contract that can look up 13 J.2.a and tell me more about these things. I'm assuming no pay or bennies on this leave. Nope, its one of the items that is to cut the total jobs lost with the ALV and RSV changes down. Its the ability for you to see pre-posted known absences. |

All comair should have first crack at Delta interviews at the very least. Did they really insert an entire paragraph of fluff about skyteam, hubs, and mainline at the end of that letter to employees?!
What a sad state of affairs the regional game has become. I hope this event helps those of you at mainline carriers further understand that better contracts for pilots can only occur at the mainline level. Comair did their best to improve the regional industry, and they did. Unfortunately the customer that pays Comair has no loyalty to that brand, and now Delta will be increasingly served by the likes of Gojet. This is why us subcontracted pilots care about your scope even though we do not work with you. Comair pilots will always have a strong reputation in my book, never met one who wasnt a consummate professional. Our new contract requires hiring at least 35% of new-hires from ALPA represented carriers. Initially, this percentage can be met with flow throughs. While commuting home last week, I saw a huge number of Comair pilots roaming the concourse. Many of them looked at least in the high 50s if not older. It actually was a surprise to me to see so many older/senior Comair pilots. Call them RJ lifers or whatever derogatory term you want to use, Comair has always done a good job whenever I have flown or jumpseated on them. Good luck to you all. It sounds like they want people to take a LOA for the month of September. I am still confused as to what this entails. |

So why is there a bid form? Says the bid closes at 0800E 1st of Aug.

I will look at it again(did not look that closely) but it could also be the Zero pay option that we agreed to aver the SIL's were seen as non-economical. |
I'm sure when we start hiring, Boomer will find with his great attitude many DAL pilots he has never met face to face will be willing to walk his stuff in. Never under estimate the goodwill from the pilots on this board. I wouldn't be where I am today without this forum and another unknown pilot.
Sorry to all those other Comair pilots and their families. Been in your shoes before and it is nothing short of scary. |
